How to make it

  • Combine 1 cup brown sugar and eggs. Beat well.
  • Add water and beat again.
  • Add flour, baking powder, and vanilla and mix well.
  • Combine remaining brown sugar and butter in heavy saucepan.
  • Heat until sugar is melted.
  • Pour caramel mixture into bottom of a 9"x9" cake pan.
  • Add fruit.
  • Spread batter over fruit.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and immediately turn pan upside down onto a sreving platter.
  • Serve warm with milk
  • Makes 8 servings
