Ingredients
  • 12 slices bacon
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup strong cold coffee
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 374 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Prepare cupcake pans with 24 liners.
  3. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet.
  4. Cook over medium high heat until evenly browned.
  5. Drain, crumble and set aside.
  6. Stir together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
  7. Make a well in the center and add the eggs, coffee, buttermilk and oil.
  8. Stir until just blended.
  9. Mix in 3/4 of the bacon, reserving the rest for garnish.
  10. Spoon batter into prepared cups.
  11. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes OR until tops spring back when touched.
  12. Cool in the pan set on a wire rack.
  13. When cool, arrange on serving platter.
  14. Frost with your favorite frosting.
  15. Sprinkle reserved bacon crumbles on top.
  16. Dust with additional cocoa powder.

Oh, you guys! When I read this recipe (yes! unique it is, midge!) I just knew I couldn't make you all suffer the pain of not reading it also. There could be no more perfect combination, cl and just imagine that breakfast, ga... bacon, eggs and chocolate! I agree that it is a devilish treat, robert. We all need a little of that imp sometimes! Enjoy!

I made these for an after school snack last week for my kids. They loved them! Hope you dont mind I added a picture of mine.
