Ingredients
  • 1 pound of hard candy such as Red Hots, Atomic Fireballs (really hot cinnamon candy!), Lemonheads, mints, cherry, lime, blueberry, grape, coffee, orange, etc... (one pound of one flavor!)
  • 1 bottle of regular Vodka

Directions
  1. As you will be adding weight to the Vodka, pour your alcohol into a larger jar or bottle leaving enough space to add your candies.
  2. Add your candies to the alcohol and let sit for 24 hours.
  3. After 24 hours, shake the bottle and strain out the remaining candy bits. Pour back into your original bottle or pour into a decorative bottle for gifting.
  4. The Vodka should be the color of your candy and flavored with your candy as well.
  5. Serve over ice or refrigerate the alcohol until ready to serve.

This looks so cool! It is really pretty and I bet it would make great gifts! I am going to make this for friends (and myself!) and I think we are all going to be PLENTY happy with it.

My dad brews his own voka! I will send him this recipe, he is always looking for ways to flavor his vodka! So you put a whole pound of candy per 1 bottle of vodka?

What a fun way to flavor up vodka - and it is bound to be less expensive than all the flavored vodkas for sale these days. My daughter is going to love this idea, too - they like the flavored vodkas and this will be so much better! Thanks Annie, for a great post!!

Juels asked about the amount of vodka to the amount of candy used in the recipe. I bought a huge bottle of inexpensive vodka. I honestly don't remember how much was in the bottle because I don't drink BUT it was the biggest bottle that I found of "Smirnoff." I made three different flavors..one was lemon (with lemon drops), one with Red Hots candies and the third was with hard coffee candies to which my friends used along with cream and coffee liqueur. I used an 12 ounce bag of the coffee candies, 2, 8 ounce bags of lemon drops and 2 cups of Red Hots (from a large commercial bag that I bought during the holidays) so I can't tell you the proper "weight" of the Red Hots. Experiment and see what you come up with. YOu can always add more vodka or candies to your mix to enhance flavor or color.
