Saucy Brussels Sprouts

- 3 pounds Brussels sprouts shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter shopping list
- 2 white onions chopped shopping list
- 1/4 cup flour shopping list
- 2 cups warm milk shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups shredded white cheddar cheese shopping list
- 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Trim sprouts and cut x in base of each.
- In large pan of boiling water cook sprouts 10 minutes.
- Drain and chill under cold water and press out excess water with towel.
- Cut in half and place in shallow greased casserole dish.
- Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat and cook onions stirring often for 10 minutes.
- Stir in flour and cook stirring constantly 1 minute.
- Add milk and cook stirring 5 minutes or until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in half of the cheese, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
- Pour over sprouts then cover and bake at 375 for 40 minutes.
- Sprinkle with remaining cheese and broil uncovered for 2 minutes.
