Frituras De Caracol or Columbian Conch Fritters

- 2 cup Conch meat - pounded, chopped fine (or substitute clams) shopping list
- 1/4 cup onions - grated shopping list
- 1/4 cup olives, ripe - chopped fine shopping list
- 4 tbsp pimiento - chopped fine shopping list
- 1 tsp garlic cloves - minced shopping list
- 1/2 tbsp basil shopping list
- 1/2 tsp tarragon shopping list
- 3 dashes habanero Hot Sauce shopping list
- 1 Chile, habanero - seeded, stemmed, minced shopping list
- 1 tbsp baking powder - sifted shopping list
- 1/2 cup flour, all-purpose - sifted shopping list
- 1 eggs - well beaten shopping list
- oil, olive - for frying shopping list
How to make it
- In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients except the baking powder, flour, egg, and olive oil and set aside.
- In another bowl, sift the baking powder and flour together and mix with the egg.
- Add the first mixture to the egg mixture, stir well, and let stand for 5 minutes.
- Place the oil in a frying pan and bring up to 380F.
- Carefully drop dough balls into the oil and cook until brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

I never saw conch being sold either, maybe they sell it close to the ocean. The recipe sounds delish!

Sounds awesome. Never had conch and don't even know if I can get it up here, so clams sounds great also.I bookmarked this. I should have had some when I was in Key West last year. didn't. scared,eh? maybe. lol and 5 forks.
