Ingredients

How to make it

  • To dye eggs, place in a pan and cover with water. Add 1 teaspoon of vinegar and dye material. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer gently 20 minutes.
  • The color will deepen or change if the eggs are left in the dye solution overnight.
  • DO NOT eat the eggs if you leave them out of the refrigerator over night!

I love this. I did it with my kids years ago but had forgotten how to mix the dye. Now I can do it with my grandkids.

When I was 5 years old, my mom dyed brown eggs in onion skins and hid them in an old orange crate outside. They were a beautiful deep copper shade and I thought they were real Easter Bunny eggs. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
