Chicken That Cant Decide If Its In Chinese Or Barbeque Sauce

- 8 chicken thighs, bone in shopping list
- 2 tbls. olive oil shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 2/3 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 2/3 cup soy sauce shopping list
- 1/2 cup apple juice shopping list
- 1/4 cup ketchup shopping list
- 2 tbls. cider vinegar shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped shopping list
- 1 tsp. crushed red pepper shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger shopping list
- 2 tbls. cornstarch shopping list
- 2 tbls. very cold water shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil in skillet
- Brown chicken on both sides
- Drain oil and return chicken to skillet
- In mixing bowl, combine water, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple juice, ketchup, vinegar, red pepper and ginger
- Pour over chicken
- Bring to boil
- Reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes or so
- Take chicken out and keep warm
- In bowl, combine cornstarch and water until smooth
- Stir into skillet with cooking liquid
- Bring to boil and cook and stir until well combined and thickened
- Spoon over chicken
