These dense buttery and chocolatey brownies were a featured recipe on joyofbaking. They sound decadent and they freeze well to boot! Makes 32 brownies.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 pounds/680 grams semisweet OR bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup/2sticks/226 grams unsalted butter, cut up
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups/400grams white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups/195 grams all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F/177 degrees C with rack in center of oven.
  2. Butter/coat with cooking spray a 9x13" pan.
  3. Line pan with parchment paper.
  4. Melt chocolate in large heat-proof bowl placed over pot of simmering water.
  5. Remove from heat and set aside.
  6. In large bowl whisk together eggs and sugar.
  7. Fold in the melted chocolate and vanilla.
  8. Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  9. Fold into the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  10. Pour into prepared pan.
  11. Bake 40 to 50 minutes OR until toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  12. Remove from oven and let cool on wire rack.
  13. Serve at room temperature OR chilled.
  14. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
