Sesame Seed Spice Powder Recipe
This powder can be used as a table condiment or a added zing to any dish that needs a dash of spice. Simple to make and have on hand.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup of white sesame seeds.
  • 10-20 dried red chillies.
  • 1/4 tsp of asfotieda or 2-3 cloves of dried garlic.
  • Kosher salt for taste.

Directions
  1. In a dry wok or flat skillet roast the white sesame seeds until they turn a golden brown and start to sputter and pop.
  2. Then add the dried red chillies and asfotieda
  3. Add the salt last when you are sure the mixture is cool to touch and then you grind in a dry grinder to a smooth powder.
  4. Make sure to grind the salt with the ingredients so there are no lumps.

You can reduce the red chillies to what ever level of heat you want, 4-5 is usually mild heat. 10-20 is hot heat.
