Fine Freezer Swedish Meatballs

- 2 lbs. ground beef shopping list
- 2 cups soft bread crumbs shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 2 eggs, beaten shopping list
- 3 medium onions, minced shopping list
- 3 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg shopping list
- cooking oil to cover bottom of pan shopping list
- 2 cups hot water shopping list
- 2 tablespoons flour shopping list
- 1/4 cup cold water shopping list
How to make it
- Combine meat and next 7 ingredients. Shape into one-inch balls.
- Heat oil in skillet over medium heat and put enough meatballs in pan to fill it loosely.
- Cook, turning to brown evenly, until brown, and move to a large saucepan. Repeat with remaining meatballs until all are done.
- Pour hot water into skillet and stir to loosen brown particles. Blend flour and cold water. Stir into skillet and cook until thickened.
- Pour gravy from skilletover the meat balls and cook, covered, for about 25 minutes. Cool quickly.
- Divide meatballs and gravy between two or three freezer containers and freeze.
- To serve, let a container of meatballs stand in refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for about 4 hours.
- Turn into a skillet and cook, covered, until heated through. Serve with rice, noodles or potatoes.
