Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cut figs in half and add them to bourbon, soak overnight
  • Add apricots to brandy, soak overnight
  • Preheat oven to 350
  • In pan, melt butter over medium heat
  • Stir in brown sugar until dissolved
  • Toss walnuts in mixture to coat
  • Take pan off heat and remove walnuts, leaving brown sugar mixture in pan and put walnuts onto baking sheet
  • Bake walnuts 10-15 minutes or until crisp
  • Let cool
  • Add pear slices to brown sugar mixture and cook over medium heat until caramelized
  • Let cool
  • In saucepan, heat balsamic vinegar over medium heat and reduce by 2/3 until it reaches syrupy consistency
  • On a platter, arrange chunks of cheeses around edges
  • In the center, arrange figs, apricots and pears
  • Scatter walnuts atop entire platter
  • Drizzle balsamic reduction over entire platter
  • Serve loaf of sliced crusty bread along side
  • ~~Cook time does not include soak time for fruit~~

    Oh my - I must be in Heaven! This sounds wonderful. We don't seem to get fresh figs in Washington so I guess I could substitute dried figs. I might make a smaller version for my hubby and me this weekend! Thanks for the wonderful post and high 5 Forks to you!
