How to make it

  • Mix all ingredients other than sugar(thanks, Laurie!) until well combined.
  • Roll dough into walnut sized balls, roll in sugar, and place onto lightly greased cookie sheet, or baking stone.
  • Press with tines of fork to give "criss cross" appearance.
  • Bake at 350 for about 17 minutes until edges are beginning to brown. DO NOT OVER BAKE
  • Lightly press each cookie, if desired, and let cool completely on baking sheet.

So I tried it with a Devils Food Chocolate cake mix. Although there wasn't a cookie left. I felt they were missing something. They were not chocolaty enough or not peanut buttery enough. I think they needed some chocolate chips or peanut butter chips.

ahaha, next time I'll wait till Laurie makes it and reviews it before I try. I put the 1/4 cup sugar in the mix and it was a bit wet so had to add 1/2 to 3/4 cup flour. Sprayed kiddo's hands with Pam to roll into balls. I forgot to roll them in sugar before smashing with a fork. Still got a really good cookie. Obviously because they are gone. PS. I am blaming all typos and omitted words from my posts on my lame (for now) right eye. LOL
Gonna give these another shot tomorrow. :)

Keni I finally made these today. It was the last day of summer so I made them for the kids by the pool. very good.
I assumed that the sugar was for rolling and did not go into the recipe if that is the case you might want to edit. If not then they are still good LOL
a tip: I put some vegtable oil on my hands before rolling into balls so the dough is easier to manage.

Funny story-I've been planning on making the cake mix cookies ever since they were brought up in IMI. I kept putting it off for some reason and now I know why. They will be so excited that I found one involving peanut butter (or Laurie brought up in ODD anyway). Making this afternoon!

OMG what a great Idea. My kids & friends love the cake mix cookies. I have done the chocolate cake and added peanut butter chips to them. I have a pool and there are always kids over so when I get the cake mixes on sale i stock up. I think I am going to try this one today!! also one suggestion too ( I know i am a pain) you can probably roll them into balls & dip in suger and when cooked add a hershey's kiss to make easy peanut butter blossoms. Love the chocolate peanut butter combo.
