Frosted Almond Scones Recipe
I would have to add some almonds to the dough and some sliced ones on the frosting... this recipe is from Glenda Barcklow at The Genesee Country Inn

Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup jam or dried fruit of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • Frosting:
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon milk (more if needed to thin)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract

Directions
  1. Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter, milk, jam or dried fruit, and 1 teaspoon almond extract.
  2. Lightly knead dough on floured surface and pat into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
  3. Combine cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle scones with mixture. Bake at 450 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes (do not over-bake).
  4. Combine frosting ingredients and frost scones while they are warm.
