Ingredients
  • 1 cup apple butter (purchased or your own)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Directions
  1. Mince your onions and garlic in a food processor until quite fine.
  2. Add all ingredients together in a sauce pot.
  3. Gently cook over medium to low heat until the onions and garlic are completely cooked and nearly undiscernable in the sauce.
  4. You want them to disintegrate in the sauce.
  5. Don't use this as a basting sauce over a high flame, the high sugar content from the apples will char and burn.
