From chefmeow 14 years agoIngredients
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger shopping list
- 1 tablespoon chopped garlic shopping list
- 1/2 cup soy sauce shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar shopping list
- 1 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 pound flank steak shopping list
- 1/4 cup cornstarch shopping list
- 2 large green onions shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil over medium low heat then add ginger and garlic to pan.
- Quickly add soy sauce and water before garlic scorches.
- Dissolve brown sugar in the sauce then raise heat to medium and boil sauce for 3 minutes.
- Remove sauce from heat.
- Slice flank steak against grain into 1/4" thick bite size slices.
- Dip steak pieces into cornstarch to apply a very thin dusting to both sides of each piece of beef.
- Let beef sit for 10 minutes so the cornstarch sticks.
- Heat oil in a wok over medium heat until it is nice and hot but not smoking.
- Add beef to the oil and sauté for two minutes stirring around a little to cook evenly.
- Use a large slotted spoon and remove meat onto paper towels.
- Pour oil out of wok then put pan back over heat and dump meat in and simmer 1 minute.
- Add sauce and cook one minute while stirring then add all the green onions and cook 1 minute.
- Remove beef and onions with tongs or a slotted spoon to a serving plate and serve immediately.
