Apple Sticky Buns With Maple Glaze

Yum yum!!!! I made these yesterday. I didn't have the rapid rise yeast, so I warmed the milk and added the sugar and yeast and let sit for 10 minutes, then added the egg and dry ingredient's and butter. My dough rose very slow, and by the 1 1/2 hour mark I was unsure if it had doubled. I went along with the recipe and rolled out the dough and added the filling. As I was rolling it all up I was being so careful, but to me it seemed like quite a bit ended up on the counter. I cut them up put them in the pan and scooped all the filling on the counter on top of the rolls. Once I did that it didn't seem like as much as I thought. The second rise in the pan did the trick, the rolls must have doubled in size! Baked them up and let them cool and put them in a container, and put the frosting in a separate container. In the morning I pulled out a roll for each kid spread some frosting on and microwaved. PERFECT!!! Did the same for myself at about 4 pm, (I was hungry and I had good lighting) and they are delicious! My daughter asked me on the way home from gym tonight if she could have another in the morning, and of course I said yes! Thanks Shona!

Oh, that looks so good! It looks like something from a bakery! Nice to know what you did without the rapid rise yeast, too. And that it worked out in the end.

Beautiful pic Michelle! I'm so glad you and your daughter liked them! :) Nice to know it will work with the traditional yeast too! It is messy to roll them up, but that's part of the fun, playing with your food, lol ;) Thanks so much for trying them and for the wonderful review! :)))

Thank you! These were fun to make and I actually like the fact that you have to scoop some of the filling back on top, because it makes them look even prettier with the apple pieces on top! :)

These are moist and tender and most of all delicious! I was a little intimated by this recipe b/c I had never made anything like this before but, the instructions were bang on perfect! I had two small end pieces that I put in the pan as well. Thanks so much for posting this recipe, Shona:) Pics in the post as well.

Michelle, I really wasn't sure what pan I was going to use. At first I wasn't sure if they had risen enough but surprisingly they did when they were baking in the oven. I would like to try these with fresh peaches when they are in season!

Peaches, yum!! That's my favorite fruit! Thanks for the idea!! I think even canned peaches would be good, well drained and sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon, oh yeah! ;)
