    Balsamic Green Beans

I made this the other night. I love green beans and am always looking for something different to do with them. This recipe lead me to learn what a shallot was. I used just under a pound of greens and served it with some sausage fried rice. This was very good, ML2C. I loved them. Next time I will double it for leftovers. Thanks for a great recipe

I have this bookmarked to make soon. We have multiple bags of snapped beans in the freezer from the garden this past year.

Thank you Frankie. Im kind of new to balsamic vinegar and trying it with a variety of foods.

Are snapped beans the same thing as green beans?

This is one of my most used recipes! We just can't get enough of this one so thanks for trying it Mr P! I do find sometimes it takes around 10 minutes to get my beans done enough so the couple minutes posted in the recipe I just re-read may not be right. How did it work for you Mr P? It could just depend on the pan you use too. Not sure.

Yes they're green beans. Mother likes to string them then snap them into about 1 1/2" sections even though most all green beans are stringless anymore. And she was brought up to snap the beans, a habit that will pass on to the next world with her.

I think they could have used more boil time, but it didnt matter. I just kept them in the skillet a little longer. I like them firm where they kinda squeak when you bite them, if that makes sense.

Points, you saying that stirs up a memory when I was pulling strings off of something -maybe green - for my mom when I was little. I wonder if it was for these......hmm Now Im trying to remember

You may be thinking of sugar snap peas?

Im not sure what they were ML2C. Sugar snap peas or green beans. I just had that memory. Now I will dwell on it. I dont have many memories of my mom cooking, so it was nice to remember this

Tasty, but a little overwhelming with vinegar. Think I'll cut the balsamic back in half next time. Used a bag of frozen beans from our garden this past year. FYI, 3 cups green beans is just over 1 pound.

Sorry they were so vinegar-y points. Thanks for trying them anyway ;)

Don't get me wrong. I like vinegar. But when all the beans were gone there was still almost the entire 1/4c of vinegar left over. Seems a waste to discard it.

I gotcha points. I guess I never paid much attention to how much was left in the pan. As I can remember it all pretty much cooked down but not sure.....

Mine didn't have to cook down that long. They were blanched then frozen, fresh from the garden.
