Best Chili I Ever Made

Don't know if I'd say this is the "best" but it was pretty good! I drained and rinsed the beans because I do not care for the thick liquid they have. Also I added a cup of beef broth to A) add more liquid to not make it so thick and B) take away from strong tomato flavor this was giving off. The beer added a nice touch, always like that :) The cocoa powder gives it a nice level of flavor. Halved the recipe and left out the kidney beans but kept the black beans and pinto beans at 1 can each. Good with cheese, onions and cilantro on top :)

Great photo. Like the tweaks you did on the recipe especially draining the beans.

That looks like a pretty good chili. It could be cut in half, too, which I like. I always drain and rinse my beans, too. That liquid in the cans looks yucky.

I drain beans for salads, but my chili recipe uses the bean juice in the chili. It also originally called for marinating the beef in beer first. I tried it both ways and we couldn't taste any difference, so I omit it. Here is our favorite chili recipe that I posted under my old screen name of bestcooker: Texas Chili

Thanks everyone! Your chili recipe looks yummy Bakerme, but if I do make it I probably would drain the beans...it's something in my head lol. I love that it has V-8 in it, Keni had a bunch of recipes calling for the spicy V-8, so it reminds me of her :)
