Brown Onion Gravy with Grilled Sausages

Those little beer soaked onions are fantastic! My husband had some homemade beer he just made so I just had to use it in this. I used some chicken sausage and I didn't even see the mention of bread until the very end (I'm really bad about reading through an entire recipe before making it) and realized the only bread I had was some plain white bread for the kids sandwiches. I skipped it. Next time plan on having some crusty thick bread ready for this recipe...it would have been perfect. That beef base is so good and made this gravy rich and delicious. Thanks NYM!!!

Oh I love sausages. Nice find. I did the very same thing the other day with the bread. But in all fairness, it was not listed under the ingredient list and once you get to cooking--it's all she wrote.

We were going to pour the gravy over the Flash Bubble And Squeak and at the last minute decided to add the bread. Sorry if it messed up your meal. When I was very young my momma made brown onion gravy and served it over bread as our meal.....to stretch a buck with three kids and a tight budget. We never missed the meat. So happy you liked the flavor! Thank you for the nice review. And ML2C they do make a veggie base. Just bought some for Thai and tofu experiments.

I know lovebreezy, I have to constantly tell myself to figure out what I'm making the night before, and READ the whole instructions the night before as well. I always find myself going to the recipe an hour before dinner and seeing I was supposed to marinate for 8 hrs!

No you definitely did not mess up the meal NYM lol! I was going into it thinking it was just sausage with gravy anyway...the bread will be an extra bonus next time ;)

I was just at the store earlier today and forgot to look for the veggie base. So glad you saw it though, gonna pick some up next week!

Oh gosh Mr P. These guys take this beer making SERIOUSLY!!! He makes it with his step dad at his house. They have a binder of beer recipes!!! I think this one was a little over a medium dark beer. It was really good but not my favorite. A tiny bit too hoppy for me.

Those beer onions were awesome though!!! For some reason I didn't have very many in my picture but I did go back for more. I was eating the leftovers straight out of the pan lol!

Several friends of mine make their own. I dont have the heart to tell them after all the work they do that only one of them make something I can drink.. And I like all kinds of beer. Ambers are my favorite. Pales next. They can get hoppy tho. But thats where all the content is : ) All this beer talk is making me thirsty : )
