    Cedar Plank Shrimp
What a fabulous way to end up my long, three day weekend. I'm glad I decided to make these today. What a treat! A bit messy to eat but, hey, that's what napkins are for. :-) More details on the recipe.

That looks just lovely Frankieanne. Great photo as always. Could you taste the cedar in the shrimp? It'd be a nice presentation really too, serving the shrimp off of the plank if you were serving them as appy's to guests.

    Thank you, Janet. :)
I didn't get the cedar effect as much as with the steak. I guess because the shells were on the shrimp. And my plank was definitely smokin'! :-) I think maybe I would try them with the shell off next time to see if they absorb more cedar. Still - very tasty little things.

Thank you, Ana. They were super good! I have two cedar planks left. I think I will just save them for another go round of these! :)

I just read A Guide to Grilling: Planking on Serious Eats. They said one way to get more flavor is to place the plank on the grill, wait until it blackens and then flip and put the meat on the charred side! Now that I look at Patrick's picture on the recipe, I see it looks like he may have done that. I think I will try that next time.

I actually did do that and didn't put that in my instructions. I guess it's just how I always use planks. I soak it, then char it just a bit before putting the shrimp on it. Thanks for mentioning it...I added that to the directions. I did stuffed lobster tails on planks a few weeks back. Really good.

Thank you for clearing that up, Patrick. I'm going to try that next time. Maybe even this weekend. Large shrimp were on sale this week so I got all stocked up.
