Chicken and Dumplings

I think this recipe is great. It is one of Keni's back when we were swapping recipes LOL. I have made it several times and like the flavor that the extras in the dumplings give to them.

    That looks really good Sassy!
I have never made chicken and dumplings before I confess. But it looks very comforting! I keep meaning to try it; Keni's recipe looks like a good place to start. Thanks for posting it! :)

Made this for Keni Cooking Day 2016
I just finished dinner and got the kitchen cleaned up and realized I forgot to take a picture!! (Sophia was walking with her soup to the dining room and spilled her whole bowl on the floor, so I got a little distracted!) I'll take a pic tomorrow when I have some leftovers for lunch. :)
This is my first time ever making chicken n dumplings. I've made soup of course, and biscuits, and spaetzle and German potato dumplings. But not this Southern classic! Since I didn't have a base to compare too, I didn't have any expectations other than chicken soup.. Everyone loved it. I don't think I cooked the dumplings long enough though? They were a little dense, so I might have done something wrong. I used a lot more seasonings as, I suspect, I used too much water. But the dumplings were well flavored! I like that the dumplings give a creamy texture to the soup. :)

Yikes on the whole bowl of soup on the floor, what a way to start out dinner! Glad you liked it, dumplings are hit or miss with me...these turned out as being some of the best. Maybe next time try cooking them longer, but be careful because if you cook them too long they could start falling apart and basically disintegrating! Been there done that lol :)

Thanks for the tips Michelle! I was so worried about over cooking that they probably did need an extra 5 minutes! I loved watching them puff up as they hit the broth. :)
