Cinnamon Candied Yams

Here's one to write home about. Very unique idea and worth making. They turn a bright red color and are very sweet with a cinnamon flavor, but not over-powering. I would really recommend trying this at some point. Full review here: Cinnamon Candied Yams/saved

Not spicy at all, but very sweet. I had one eater in particular that couldn't get enough of these.

Thats a good looking pic, DB. I am not a fan of a potato that is sweet. If and when I have sweet potatoes or yams, they have to have something that will cover the sweetness..... My dad would have loved this, tho. He tried for years to get me to like them........Maybe when I get old I will...........Oh, wait, I'm already old..... .=P

p7, no, I did not cover. I also cooked for longer, but at a lower temp (300) because I had a chicken in the oven as well. I didn't want the marshmallows to dissolve into the dish, but they did because one of my guests ran a little late.

MP - I think this dish has real potential for a spicy/sweet. I was thinking about that last night, but wasn't sure how I'd do it. Maybe some jalepenos? It would be interesting to try. I think maybe I will try that on a small scale.

Doubt whether you have ever had yams MrP. They are not sold in the states. Sweet potatoes are also labeled yams in the states but they are not yams. Yams are much bigger and sweeter than sweet potatoes.

Very nice p7. I didn't know. According this website: http://zoebakes.com/2008/11/21/the-sweet-potato-vs-yam-debate-on-nprs-weekend-america/ and by the pictures, what I actually cooked was Camote (sweet potato). This was my very first time using this as fresh ingredient, and I was impressed at how the raw, skinned product developed dark spots. Much faster than regular potatoes.

Your picture does make it look like a dessert, Duboo.

I really don't see a reason why this couldn't be used as a dessert. Would be really good with a side of ice cream. Maybe even sliced up and made into a apple crisp type dessert.
