A recipe from Henrie Coconut Dump Cake

I wanted something easy to make for dessert today and found this. It's easy alright, but I doubt I would ever make it again. I really don't care for boxed cake mixes, but thought since so many people rated it 5 stars (without actually making the cake..what was I thinking?) I would give it a try. First, I dislike the name of the cake, not very appetizing! Second, there was dry cake mix in a few places after baking the cake, maybe because I didn't drizzle the melted butter evenly..I used crushed pineapple since the recipe didn't state what kind to use...I'm sure some people might really enjoy this, so I rated it 4 stars..I personally prefer homemade:-) Thanks to Henrie for sharing his recipe:)

My husband says there is a guy at work who make this cake called dump "something" (can't remember, but not cake) and he cuts up a stick of butter and scatters it in a pan dumps in a box of cake mix and dump on a can of pie filling (any flavor) and bake. LOL, LOL! I can't imagine how that could actually turn into something...but he swears it's so good! I told him if he wanted it at home he would have to make it himself and I would "give it a try."
I like the mix of coconut and pineapple in this though, good mix! The picture looks yummy :)

That's another thing I don't care for, canned pie filling, especially cherries..uck..boxed cake mixes are just too sweet for me..that's why I think others might like this recipe..when I tried this I kept thinking how I wish I would have made your pineapple pound cake!!! Now, that's good!

Frankieanne, I noticed some recipes call for 2 sticks of butter! Could you imagine?! Probably isn't any dry cake mix in those recipes..just lots of butter.
