Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings

    By Frankieanne!

AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!! The flavor of the broth was PERFECT! The dumplings were fluffy and not soggy or pasty at all! I made it as written except I had to use more oil than stated and I used thyme instead of rosemary. YOU ROCK Frankianne! =)

I posted a pic of my dish plus a pic of the fluffy perfect dumpling!

Oh, thank you for the rave reviews and the great pictures!! I love those pictures. That definitely is a perfect dumpling! :) I'm really glad it worked for you. The thyme sounds like a good idea. I like thyme with chicken. I'll have to try that! Thanks again, Lillian. I appreciate it. (Gee, I really need to go back to my old recipes and add pictures. <sigh>)

You are SO welcome Frankieanne! Can this recipe be easily doubled or tripled? Do you think it would work on the stovetop or in the oven because I'd like to make a HUGE batch...a triple sized amount won't fit in my crockpot! Maybe a double size will!

I've never tried doubling or tripling, Lillian, (its just lil' ol' me in my household!) but I suppose you could. I do believe it would work on the stovetop as well. I can't see why it wouldn't. I'm really glad you liked it. I wish I could remember what magazine I ripped it out of! :-P

Thanks! I think I'll try to double it and cook it on the stove top next time! If that works, then I'll try tripling it and cooking it in the oven! I can't stop eating these dumplings! They're like little pillows of moist bread! YUM!!!

    Thanks Otter! =)

I was just talking to a foodie friend and she said that Southerner's like a flatter dumpling! I never knew that!

depends on which part of the south ;) we don't like noodle type dumplings, here, rather a very simple, seasoned batter dropped in the soup... my recipe is older than my grandmother... it's probably the oldest recipe I have posted. :)
