Ok, we've all made this, and I have hundreds of times, and we love it every time :) Thought it was about time to put it in the IMI though and to show anyone who hasn't seen this before! I like to serve the little cut out bread oval on top of the egg. Kids love it :)

Nice Photo! I've always called them toads in a hole, too. Honestly, I've never had one or made one. It's always been on my list to make just for fun. I think DH would get a kick out of it because he always dips his toast in eggs over easy.

Your photo looks yummy, Mommyluvs2cook! I'm allergic to eggs in their eggy form, but have tried making this a couple of times (different recipes) for my husband and just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. My hubby thought the eggs were too well done for his taste in the recipes I tried, so I haven't tried making it again. Maybe there's a trick to it??

You cook it just like you'd cook over easy eggs. If you want the toast to be "toasty" then cook the bread on both sides about 1-2 minutes per side first then add the egg :)

Easy over is my husband's favorite way to have fried eggs. Last time I tried making them in the toast, I made them the same way you suggest, Mommyluvs2cook, but they still didn't work for me. I thought it was a cute idea, but in the end, he said he'd just as soon have the eggs and toast served separately.

Lol Bakerme, some things just work for certain people and don't for others. I actually find this method pretty easy, but I can see it being difficult, as I had trouble getting eggs to cooperate with me for so long. Separate is always good :)

    Thanks FA, it is cute!!

Mommyluvs2cook, I had a terrible time with poached eggs until I tried the method Frankie posted last year maybe? Now they come out perfect every time! I'll look for it and see if I can find the post. It might take me a while, but I'll be back with it if I can find it :)

This is the method I use for poached eggs, except I skip the step where it says turn off heat and cover for 5min. I'm usually doing several eggs at a time so I just put the egg in the boiling water and leave it in 3 - 5 minutes. Depends on the size of the egg yolk. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/perfect-poached-eggs-recipe.html
