Fabulous Baked Onion Rings

Recipe by Noir: Fabulous Baked Onion Rings/saved
It's a good ring for being baked. Watch those calories! Rings are sweet being a sweet variety of onion and a sugared coating of flakes.
I used frosted flakes so omitted the sugar ingredient.
Think 2 onions are a far stretch for the ingredients.
At the end of only 1 onion the crushed flakes were gaining enough egg residue to start clumping together and would not stick onto the O-rings very well.
I did deviate from the recipe in that I coated the rings with flour first so that the egg would stick to the rings better.
One O-ring spread out on 2 baking sheets covering them fully. Two O-rings would have to be baked in batches.
Used parchment paper on one baking sheet and the other sheet was ceramic coated. Clean-up was a snap.
Not much change in the color from start to finished baking but they are done at 25 minutes.

I love fried food but I hate the mess it makes so I bake stuff now. Its a delicious and easier clean up alternative!
Are you on an onion ring roll, pso? :-)

Not really, but mother wanted some onion rings and I picked out 3 or 4 different recipes to make. Plus I want to try to deep fry some broccoli stocks. I par boiled them already and tomorrow they will be battered and fried. The florets are for another dish.
I've got 1 or 2 more onion ring recipes left.
Mother seems to be eating the breading off the rings and leaving the guts.
