Frankie's Slow Cooker Steel Cut Oats

  • mrpiggy 12 years ago
I have made this at least half a dozen times. I never had steel cut oats before this and didnt know there was such a differenxe in taste and texture. It almost has a soft nutty bite/crunch (best I could do in describing it) I LOVE this. Its great to wake up to. The hardest part it remembering to make it the night before. My worn out crock pot takes about 10 hours to make. I used a veggie steamer to sit my glass 2 cup measure on. Put it in a bowl for the pic but all the rest, I eat it right out of the cup. This is great. Perfect amounts of sweet. Thanks Frankie for a great and healthy breakfast

Wow, thanks for the wonderful review, MrP. I'm so happy that you like this so much! And no lavender in it! :-P

Hmmmm. The lavender "button". I can see it now. You guys are going to want me to use lavender in my pics instead of a celery leaf............I dont think thats going to happen : )

...as long as you are just eating or photgraphing it and not bathing in it.... that would just be...weird. ;-)

Thanks, Frankie... its a rather savory oatmeal, but it was nice. As you can tell by my recipes, coming up with flavor combos for oatmeal is one of my fun things.... and, I use steel cut, too. :-)

I LOVE breakfast recipes you can do the night before. I hate to say it but I am NOT a morning person at all and HATE to make breakfast (my poor kids) ;), so this is perfect for me. I might try this tonight so we can actually have something "homemade" for Easter morning lol!!
