General Tso's Chicken

    General Tsos Chicken
Well.....Luisa had me when she said "Better than take out", so I tried it...and she's right! :) Super yummy recipe. I'd highly recommend it.
Two things shine. #1 The flavour is spot on and #2, the texture is excellent. I guess it's the chicken put into the egg wash marinade then tossed in cornstarch and then panfried that does it. The coating is sweet and yummy and crispy. I have tried other General Tso's recipes on GR before but this one is hand's down the best.
I probably added the marinated chicken to less than a cup of cornstarch so my chicken pieces didn't need the starch excess shook off of them as the cornstarch just kind of melded into the marinade more 'coating' the chicken. Perhaps it'd be even crispier if I had done the whole cup but as I say, I loved how the texture turned out anyway. :)
In the second last paragraph of her instructions she says to add the dried chilis and the garlic to the wok but I didn't see reference to that in the ingredient list. There was garlic listed in the sauce ingredients and since I had it in there I didn't add more at the end. It still had plenty of flavour.
Top notch recipe. Kudos to the Chef! :)

Janet, What a beautiful yummy looking pic! I had not bookmarked but now it is. Thanks for the big thumbs up on this it recipe. When I make I will most likely hold back a bit more on the chilis for our taste buds. Once again a great post from Luisa with directions bang on:-)
