    Guinness Chicken And Bacon Stew
This is sooo good. I absolutely loved this. Gave me a chance to use my electric skillet, too. Didn't make any changes at all except for the chicken and onion amounts. Gave me the opportunity to use some of the abundance of fresh thyme I have right now, too. Excellent and wonderful. Served it with
    Perfect Rice
and poured some of the sauce over it.

I love Guinness and want to try this recipe. Still dont have fresh herbs so dry will have to do. Other than fresh herbs and Guinness I have the rest, Wonder if an oatmeal stout would do.....

I was thinking when she posted this how delicious it looked! Not a guiness drinker though, think we would like it still? Pretty pic :-)

I'm not a Guinness drinker either, ml2c, although I don't hate it either. I think you would like it very much. Its got a great flavor to it.

Thank you Frankieanne for a great review. I am so happy you liked it ;)

Mrpiggy, I am sure any stout would work like a charm in this recipe. Go ahead and use it and come back to tell us about it. My Mom actually makes this recipe with regular beer.

ML2C, I think you'd like it. The tart Guinness flavor kind of disappears after you cook it. Don't you agree Frankieanne?

Yes, I do, Ana. It really mellows down. You can taste a certain "something" but no one would know it was Guinness.

I figured...just wanted to make sure! I love dark beer but don't typically drink that dark. I know alcohol usually mellows when cooking but never tried cooking with guinness. Thanks for letting me know!

I don't know how I missed this..looks delicious! Since I don't eat bacon, do you think omitting it would be ok? It probably wouldn't be the same would it?

There isn't that much bacon in it, Marie. I think it would be fine without it. The Guinness is what gives it such a unique flavor.

I finally got around to making this for dinner tonight. This was really good. I used 3 massive b/s breast cut in half. It all barely fit in a 12" skillet. Thanks Gourmetana for a great recipe and the heads up Frankie Added a pic

This is definitely a great recipe. My first time cooking with Guinness and now I have a couple of bottles in my refrigerator because I'm on the lookout for other recipes with it in it. This is a great one, too.

This was also my first time cooking with Guinness. I would have had to use an Oatmeal Stout, but a friend had given me a couple of Guinness a while back. I was torn from drinking them of saving them to cook with. That recipe of Griz looks great. Im gonna have to try that one, too. Thanks for the heads up on that one, also
