    Biscuits by Hartwig. Really easy to make, ingredients normally always on hand. I made it without sugar because I never put sugar in biscuits. Good taste just like biscuit should be. I made them twice. The first time patting out to the 1/2" I didn't get any rise to them and they were some flat biscuits. The second time I made them thicker, more like an inch. Worked great, looked just like regular biscuits! Who knew LOL!

    Great looking biscuits. I was like you. I could never get my biscuits to raise and it used to frustrate the heck out of me. I gave up for a long time. Then I found a recipe that specifically said to roll them extra thick. They turned out perfect and I've been making biscuits every since. Like you said, who knew?

    Shortening, that's what mom always used(or lard). I treated them like any other dough. Mix, pour out onto floured surface and added flour on top, knead, flip, more flour and knead until dough felt right then pat out. Cut straight down, even used my moms biscuit cutter.
