IMI needs a new moderator

  • frankieanne 7 years ago
Due to recent circumstances, I find I need to leave GroupRecipes. IMI will need a new moderator and someone needs to take over the Reveiws profile. Its not really that much "work." Its pretty easy especially if you come here often, as many of you do. I will have to get in touch with Lilliancooks so she can add whoever would like to be moderator but I will do that when someone lets me know they want the job. Someone can be moderator of IMI and another be Reviews if you don't want both posts. I can re-assign Reviews immediately without Lillian's help.

Please pm me if you are interested.

    Thank you.

Oh no Frankieanne! I hope everything is ok? ((hugs!))
Do you have to leave GR forever or is it a temporary thing?
Either way you will be greatly missed!!!! Thanks for all that you have done here over the years in IMI and Reviews!! :)

I wonder if it would be easier for Lillian to give out her password to a new moderator so someone can take over the group and have full control. Because if someone else has to leave the group and so on and so on down the road, then it might become impossible to add a new moderator?? Or perhaps it's easier to start a new IMI group??

Perhaps that is a better idea - starting a new IMI group. Then at least the avatar could be changed (that was the one thing I couldn't do) and I wouldn't have to contact Lillian. I'll check my mail here until this weekend. Quite a few people here know how to get in touch with me if someone wants to be Reviews after then.
Bottom line is I want to be on a site that is monitored and maintained. This one is not. Stuff gets posted that shouldn't be posted. This is probably the only social recipe site where you can do an ingredient search for "hamster" and up pops a gross, childish recipe. I asked Kristopher to remove it the day it was posted. Its still here. People get locked out of their accounts and ask for help in the (no) Help group with no reply and certainly no help given. Silly stuff gets posted in groups and on people's pages that shouldn't. There are groups here that are pure advertisements. People "steal" recipes and photos from other places and/or people and don't give credit which is a clear violation of the terms and "rules" here. I had some rare down time this past weekend due to not having a car and did some searching. There are other social recipe sites out there where you can post your own recipes and make other people's recipes and rate them and the sites are maintained.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm just done being frustrated here.

I completely and totally understand FA! It can be very frustrating!
I wish Kris could of at least stopped in and told us what is going on. When I did research awhile back it looked like an Aussie company took over, but as of June this year it's owner is listed as "Contact Privacy Inc. Customer 0144058292" with a Toronto address. I wonder if that's why there were a bunch of recipes from http://www.grouprecipes.com/people/infoforyourlife who posts a lot of "President Choice" brand products owned by Loblaws in Toronto (Canada's largest grocery store chain)
Not listed on this site, but I found the owner's contact email address: Grouprecipes.com@contactprivacy.com

The one thing I do like about this site compared to others, is that there are no flashing ads that slow down the site. But I agree that someone should at least monitor and remove inappropriate stuff. And being locked out etc...I'm sure is from this site being so out of date and not compatible with the latest Windows software and Apple devices. Please let us know if you find a better site to call home :)

I'm so sad FA :-( I really hope you aren't completely leaving for good! I'll miss you! I understand though, and it is frustrating that there are so many immature people out there. I just like to have a food site where I can post food pictures and besides the slowest moving site ever, AR, this is pretty much it. I don't mind becoming the moderator, just let me know if you want to reach out to Lillian or should I start a new group. I honestly don't know if Lillian will get back to you though...

If someone else took it over in June, that would explain some things. I think that's about the time that recipes stopped being featured. I went to contactprivacy.com It looks like a site where you can contact people who run websites but they have a disclaimer saying just because you contact an administrator through them they can't guarantee a reply. Or something like that. Just another way the persons who run this site don't have to deal with anyone here.
Michelle, maybe it would be best if you just started up another IMI. I looked at Lillian's blog and her last post was in April. Last I heard her mom was having some problems so it looks like she probably doesn't need me to be contacting her about a group she is no longer involved in.
I'm not certain Reviews is very necessary so I won't worry about it. Pso has his own things going on and I don't think the Reviews list is being worked on. I think there are only three people who were here back when Lovebreezy was here and started it up so I don't think anyone will miss it.
    Thanks, everyone.

Frankie, I am so sad about you leaving, and I will miss you terribly. I hope this is just a matter of taking some time to step back a bit and that you will come back later. Please pop on now and then and let us know how you are doing.

I love reading the posts on this site. I'll be sorry to see you leave Frankieanne. I understand sites can be frustrating (nothing is worse than what happened to Allrecipes). I hope you'll reconsider and take the bad in stride because the good is really appreciated.

Frankieanne, your new avatar says how I feel about your leaving. Very blue! You've been so kind and welcoming to everyone. I always look forward to reading your comments and seeing your food photos. I don't feel I've been on here long enough to make suggestions about the future of IMI. I agree with others that it might be easier to start a new IMI group. I'm with Mommyluvs2cook, about being able to share food photos with friends. That's the main reason I come here. This is really the only site left. And, it's nice to have a connection with fellow cooks and be able to communicate. Everyone is like family! I would love to participate on a more regular basis, but I go through cooking phases. Even when I'm not inspired to try new recipes, I still enjoy coming here to see what everyone else has been up to. Hope there is a way to keep this group going either by continuing as is or by starting a new group forum.

It sounds like a new group is the way to go so I will head off and not worry about finding a new moderator.
Thank you for your kinds words, everyone, and for the nice pm's I have received. I'm not looking for a perfect site, just a moderated, monitored site and one that gets some attention paid to it where I can try new recipes. I don't think that's too much to ask, but I could be wrong! :) I would have been here 10 years in April. I was the last one remaining of the small group I remember from when I first got here. The people I knew from when this site first started aren't here anymore - and apparently Kristopher is in that bunch as well.
    Take care!

Thanks for taking over Mommyluvs2cook! I know you will do a great job! Next month is October which means Oktoberfest and Halloween is coming up. If I can, I will try to make a seasonal recipe to celebrate the new group.

I will miss you, Frakieanne! I understand completely how you feel, it is scary not to have anyone monitoring the site! I haven't seen any that are as comfortable as GR! The new AR is the pits and I don't care for Pinterest wannabes, let us know if you find a good one!

I know I'm late to this discussion but I add my sadness yet thankfulness to Frankie and now MommyLuvs for helping this group along. I apologize for my absence without a word to anyone. I just got overwhelmed with the Beta Thread and kept thinking I could catch up but knew if I logged in, then all the new posts would not stand out. I know, I should have just said that I can't do it anymore but I really thought I would. So Frankie, please tell us your new site when you find one. Thanks again everyone.

Breezy, so glad to see you here! It's been forever! I know there are several people missing you!
There is no more Beta thread since there is a new IMI Group now: I Made It Ii
Mommyluvs has made it stress free so no one has to link recipes etc. and so on.
I hope we see you around GR more often! By the way, the Refugees group has a lot more members from AR and is active everyday. I hope you stop in and say hi. :)

Thank you CosMom:-) , I did see the new group and joined. I already read ALL the posts there :-) I can't cook much anymore but love finding things to suggest to my family. I was wondering one thing about the new group and the posting of multiple threads and how that is dealt with. Although I didn't see it stated, is it assumed that one would check the Reviews II bookmarks and/or linking posts on the actual recipe assuming it hasn't been bumped off before starting a new thread? I didn't want to ask over there as I was afraid it may confuse the newer members. I'll check out the Refugees soon, it was pretty much dead last I checked.
Thanks again and I will actually say something now again in the new group and not just troll by.

I suggested the same thing about linking before the old review gets bumped off the recipe, but I really don't think anyone understood what I was talking about! LoL..;)
I do know we're not linking the old IMI reviews to the new IMI. So if you make a recipe that has an old IMI review link then we can make a new one in IMI II.
I am old school so I would post on an existing thread, but others post new threads all the time. Mommyluvs and others talked about it a lot and I think it was decided to keep it stress free for the newer people and let them post multiple threads?
Mommyluvs should be around soon and can probably explain it better, she also runs the Reviews II.
There are some daily threads in the Refugee group now. It was a ghost town two years ago but now there are lots of great people :) It can be quiet in the afternoon and evenings though. I know that I should post more often in there but have been busy lately. Hope to see more of you and hope you are doing well :)

Thank you ladies. I think I got it all--like I said I went back and read every thread ever in the IMI II group. I really got so stressed about trying to keep up with the daily links that needed to be done (on the Beta thread) along with trying to alphabetize old links with the proper recipe name. I should have just told you all but I stayed away thinking I would find the time... I do think the Beta did help reinforce the habit of making the recipe title the title of each thread. That alone took up so much time. I'm glad to see things simplified and I just won't worry anymore.
So glad to see familiar names and thank you for the warm welcome.
