Korean Flank Steak

    Made
    Korean Flank Steak/saved
last night for dinner. I was worried when I looked at the recipe that the juice from an entire lemon would overpower the flavour of the marinade as it only calls for 1/8th cup of soya sauce. So I ended up only juicing 1/3-1/2 of a lemon. I also halved the amount of sugar as we don't care for things to be too sweet.
I left the flank steak to marinate for the entire day. I didn't read the part about simmering the marinade once you take your steak out to grill. I'm sure it would have been nice. As it was the flank steak had a nice flavour and it was also nice and tender. We grilled ours for about 7-8 minutes per side and it was still pretty pink.
It was yummy, and I'll make it again.

Fantastic photo, Chuckie! It doesn't look too pink for our taste ;) I agree that that sounds like a *lot* of lemon juice. I can't say as I have ever made flank steak, thinking it's a tough piece of meat to cook, literally and figuratively.

Thanks Bakerme. It was perfectly done for our tastes as well but the recipe had said to only cook it for 3-4 minutes per side which just wouldn't have cut it. I realize that steaks are all different thicknesses so that does explain it. Flank steak marinades usually call for citrus juice or vinegar, and the acid helps break down the connective tissue which results in a nice tender cut. It always boggles my mind how much the grocery stores charge for Flank steak. I do love them though. :)

Wow, that looks fabulous. I haven't had flank steak in about 20 years - no kidding! It costs so much. That makes me want to check prices though. :)

When I do buy Flank Steak I find the best price to be at Costco.

AWESOME photo, Chuckieb! I think meat is one of the hardest foods to photograph. Yours looks perfect! I for one love a good rare steak. For me it's 3 min. per side. The marinade sounds tasty, but I would probably have to leave out the lemon.
