    Mexican Pork N Beans
These are sooo good!! I love how thick they got. I didn't have any clove and I didn't put any chopped peppers in it. Its probably could have used some more "heat", but that would have been my fault. I was wishing I had some green onions for this. I'll be making this again.

We really like beans ... don't know how I missed this recipe. My hubby is not fond of peppers so would leave them out. Looks like great match for a slow cooker. Thanks for trying it out and letting us know the results! I luv the "thick" part.

Did you stove top these or slow cooker? That looks and sounds good. Is pork shoulder just a roast? I dont think I have had that before. I wouldnt use clove myself. I dont like the smell and would think it would taste similar. But I would add the heat.

A quarter cup chopped jalapenos seems excessive especially if they haven't been seeded. I've been debating with myself whether to make this since I love using dried beans.

I don't think these would work in a slow cooker, Hungrynow and MrP. They are simmered for two hours on the stovetop with the lid off so all the moisture evaporates and they get nice and thick. I was stirring a lot toward the end, too.
I could not find a one pound pork shoulder. In fact, I couldn't find a pork shoulder at all. Maybe my store was just out. I don't know. But, I did find what were labeled "pork shoulder ribs" which makes no sense. Anyway, they were boneless strips like country ribs so I just cubed them up.
Mine could have used a little heat so next time I'd just add a bit of chili powder. I don't know why it took me so long to make these.

This sounds very flavorful! 1/4 cup does sound like a lot BUT I am used to cooking with little heat for the kiddos.

Cuts of meat confuse me too frankie. I just buy what I think might work and hope for the best. Usually it works out!

Yup, country style pork ribs (either boneless or bone-in) are from the pork shoulder! Since I cook only for two of us, these "ribs" work well for a lot of recipes. Thanks for the "slow cooker" hint ... like, don't use it for this recipe!
