My sister only eats brown rice so I cooked this for 60 minutes to accommodate that and it worked out well. It surprised me that stirring every 15 minutes would work, but it did. The only difference for me was I didn't have any white onion so I used red. The directions are a little sketchy but I assumed I was to saute the rice and onion in the canola oil, which I did over medium heat.
