My Family Pot Roast

Good flavor but nothing special. I always have problems with potatoes and carrots getting done so I steamed all the veggies ahead of time. Made it in the slow cooker. Meat wasn't fall apart done at 6 hours. At 8 hours it was done. Didn't check in between.
    No photo.

Yup, looks like the typical pot roast My Family Pot Roast I love it this way though :) I do like the addition of green beans, that's new!

Did you use fresh green beans in place of canned?

I saw that one as well and thought it looked like "pot roast like Mom used to make." :-) So, I'm sure it was pretty good. Its about time to get out the slow cooker around here as well. I'm starting to crave a pot of beans!

It's cooled down some now and mother is picking pieces out of the slow cooker to munch on.

Here are the mod's I made:
Only used 1 cup of water, as I know that the roast will make plenty of juice. And too much water will make the meat dry.
Used the beef bouillon as part of the rub on the roast.
    Forgot the Worchestershire Sauce.
    Used fresh green beans.
    Steamed all the veggies.
    Didn't thicken the juices.

I found 3 picture perfect boneless chuck roasts when I stopped at the store to pick up more milk. As long as I was there, I decided to check out the roasts. It seems like when I want one, they're pretty marginal and when I don't want one, they look great! Today they were great and on sale! I'm going to use one to make pot roast one night this week and freeze the other two. Thanks for the post, Points, I can taste it already!

Well, I didn't make the above recipe, but I did make *my* family pot roast tonight. Thanks again for the suggestion, Points! I hope that nasty infection has cleared up and you're feeling better :)

It's your standard pot roast recipe, Ml2c: brown seasoned meat, add broth, cover tightly and cook on simmer 3 hours. We like the veggies cooked separately, mashed potatoes, and gravy made from the pan drippings. Can you say comfort food!
