My Favorite Homemade Granola

My Favorite Homemade Granola by Gourmetana

This is my first time adding applesauce and ginger to granola. It turned out fantastic! I don't miss the extra oil, and it's just as crisp without it. The ginger adds a little background spice that's not overpowering at all. I used half steel cut oats and half regular. I only had sliced almonds and sunflower seeds this time around. Next time I'll use all the seeds. I skipped the brown sugar and used 100% pure- medium (grade b) maple syrup as I find it less sweet than honey.
My oven and/or pan likes to burn granola at 350F, so I cooked it at 325F for 35 minutes, stirring every ten. Just until the almonds got toasted.
I added some dried cranberry's, and it was perfect for breakfast. This would be so good with dried apples and apricots too!
This will be my go to granola recipe for now on :)

Looks delicious! Saved. I too often find honey very sweet and will use maple syrup ... now I use half maple syrup and brown rice syrup. I find brown rice syrup even less sweet than Maple and ideal for making granolas. If you happen upon it give it a try. Kinda reminds me of corn syrup ... thick and gooey, and slightly sweet.

Thanks for the tip on the brown rice syrup! I've seen it at the store but never tried it. Will have to give it a go next time :)

    Thanks everyone :)
Haha, you'll have to try it Ellie! ;)
Yogurt and berries are so good with granola, like a dessert! I eat it in the morning with cashew milk. Cashew milk is thick and creamy :)
