Slow Cooker Meatloaf With Shiitake Mushrooms

Full review on the page. My first slow cooker meat loaf and it was great. :) Very "traditional" in it's taste and texture.

As he's said to a couple of mine...nothing to complain about with this recipe!! :)

Thanks for the review and pic.
Recipe has no added liquid. How much did you wind up with?

That is a beautiful plate of food, Keni. I like the liquid smoke idea, too! I made meatloaf in a slow cooker one time and loved the results. The hardest part is getting it out in one piece!

They must see me coming! Thought to make this again , it's been a while. Ground round at $4.99/lb. Outrageous! And it was marked as 85% lean. I thought round was a whole lot leaner than that!
Look at an eye of round and you hardly see any fat at all.
Picked up a top round steak for a buck and a half less than the ground stuff. Will have to grind my own in the morning.

I don't have to buy my meat :)

We kill the deer and butcher the cows, so I get it wholesale...hehehe....

I had almost a cup of liquid.... and venison is very lean. I only used about half a dozen "dashes" of liquid smoke, so that wasn't a significant part. :)

I gotta try this, minus the mushrooms. Wonder if I could try and make it up 1/2 with mushrooms and half withough.... hmmm...
We get cows and pigs butchered too, and I buy my chicken from a really good local meat market, which is actually usually cheaper than the store stuff! We have 3 freezers to keep all our goodies in :)

Three freezers! Dang, I'm jealous. Even though its just little ol' me, my apartment size freezer is not enough. Every time I open the door I have to make sure I stand back!

I have 2 freezers at my place, but my brother has 8. Yes. 8. :) hehehe No worry about lack of space. ;)

@luv... the mushrooms really help to keep the loaf moist. Can you even pulverize them and mix them with the meat, maybe? As they cook from that already tiny state, they should become unnoticeable, but still release moisture.

Still as good as I remember. Even bumped the red pepper flakes up to 1/4 tsp. Half cup drippings. Served with mashed potatoes infused with home made onion soup mix powder, butter, and milk.

Eight!! Dang! I wish I lived closer to your brother. Maybe he'd let me borrow a little space. :-P We're out in the boonies enough where I am to buy fresh meat - if ya have the space.

I have a feeling they are pretty much full of forest kill.

I'm to scared to try that thing with the mushrooms Keni, even though I don't think Bri would notice, I really think my husband would taste them somehow...
