Peanut Butter Ice Cream

    Peanut Butter Ice Cream

We had this recipe for desert last night. Now DS#2 had requested that I sub the peanut butter with Reese's Spread which I did. I also added a little vanilla. Boy was it ever good. Now question should I review with the subs I made or not seeing that it was a sub on the recipe.

Oh my gosh, Nadine, that looks super yummy! My husband loves peanut butter anything, but is lactose-intolerant :( I can use Lactaid milk for the milk part, but haven't found a sub for whipping cream.

You can go ahead and rate a recipe if you substitute. Its not fair to totally alter a recipe and then give it a bad review but one substitution and a little add aren't an alteration.
Something like "I used pork chops instead of hamburger and tomato soup instead of gravy and added a tub of pickles and boy, did it taste awful!" - well, that's an alteration! :-)
So, yeah, go ahead and rate it but just note your changes in your review.
It does look like a good one!

I agree with one or two minor subs, Frankie, but, so far, I haven't found a sub for whipping cream. And with my allergy to eggs in their eggy form, I won't be able to try this recipe :(

Hi here are a couple of ice cream recipes that I have done that do not use egg. You can always leave it out. As far as cream I know that the lactose free milk has different levels. I know that I have seen cream and 2% in my local grocery store. You can also use all one type of milk but I would recommend leaving it in the fridge longer and remember it may take while longer to freeze up.

Oh and these recipes are great to add to ie peanut butter or even change the extract. LOL I did it one using banana extract and family loved the ice cream.

Not a fan of peanut butter myself but my daughter is! Sounds great!

Bakerme, look up some Paleo ice cream recipes, they call for coconut milk instead of milk or cream. Not sure what to do about the eggs though!

Thanks, Nadine, and Ml2c! I don't even have an ice cream maker, so will stick with Lactaid lactose-free ice cream from the store. The salted caramel chocolate chip is yummy!

Breyers lactose-free ice cream only comes in vanilla, but I like it better than the Lactaid vanilla. Lactaid has vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, cookies 'n creme, butter pecan, and some berry something. We haven't tried the cookies 'n creme, butter pecan, or berry flavored.
