This is fantastic! So simple yet so flavorful!! I usually make it with more spices and use dried. But the fresh onion and garlic is awesome, and less is better in this case! The kids said it was the best "meat" they ever had, and I have to agree.
The gravy is also fantastic. I usually make a cornstarch gravy, but I love this richer, thicker flour gravy. I don't drink wine so I used a splash of soy sauce as I used low sodium broth.
I'm not a mushroom fan but the hubby loves them so I try and make them for him when I can. So he really, really loved it all! I like mushroom sauces, but I don't like to chew the actual mushroom ;) Pete could only find the regular button mushrooms at the store today, but next time he hopes to try the cremini.
This is my daughter's all time favorite meal, and I'll definitely use this recipe for now on!

Your photo looks fantastic, Cosmicmom! I haven't made salibury steak for *years* and this recipe looks better than my old one. Maybe that's why I haven't made it for so long ;) Saved!

That looks delicious. I haven't had Salisbury steak in forever! I'd have to take the mushrooms off though. I give all my mushrooms to Michelle. :-)

Thanks everyone, I wasn't sure if the photo would turn out as it was dark out. I love your picture Bren, that's what made me want to try it as it looks yummy! :) And thanks back to you for posting the recipe!
Haha Frankieanne, after I took that picture all those mushrooms went on Hubby's plate ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the texture of mushrooms, but love the flavor. I use this trick when I cook with mushrooms. Put them in a food processor and chop until they are very fine. Then cook them in a pan without any oil, until the water is completely gone. The result is great. You get the flavor without the spongy texture.
