Scalloped Potatoes

    Recipe by Blueeyes68ky: Scalloped Potatoes/saved
Nice scallop recipe. Left the skin on for a more rustic appeal. Taters are done, which is a big plus in my book. Well seasoned but make it to your own personal preference. Sauce is not runny at all, as the last recipe reviewer stated.
Did not opt for the shredded cheese in the sauce. That would make this a gratin instead of straight up scalloped.
For the purist, a lot of the scalloped potato recipes here at GR do indeed call for the addition of cheese. This is the first one I found that it was optional.
I'll be making more potato casseroles in the future, be it scalloped or au gratin or a combo of the two, since I have found the secret of covering the dish to make the potatoes get done to my liking.

That looks so much like my recipe that I know it will be good. Last time I made them, the top layer turned black and the bottom layer was perfect. I have no idea what happened there because I made them the same way I always do, but it was enough that I haven't made them since.

Around here, the only way to get a cup of sliced potatoes per potato would be to buy red or white potatoes. Our standard russets would probably yield about 2-3 cups easily. They are huge. I love cheese on potatoes so I think I prefer gratins but I need to make a true scalloped potato recipe one of these days :)

Another scalloped potato recipe that has left me craving them! I haven't had them in such a long time. I never would have thought of leaving the skins on, pso. I need to try that. I have never, ever put cheese in mine.
I like to let the tops of them get all crispy. Yum. I want some and I just had breakfast! :-)

It's such a waste of potato to take the skin off. Especially true with the medium to smaller potatoes. Besides, all the vitamins and good stuff are in the skin. Just scrub it real good and slice it. There must be a very compelling reason for me to lose the skins.

Same as mine but a different method. I'm gonna have to try this way and I leave my skins on too.
