Slap Your Mama Texas Chili Recipe

  • cherylnail 11 years ago
By txbackyardcook. I made this last night, Incredible smell, and because the directions said " sample, sample , sample" I did. After refrigerating overnight i decided to scoop off most of the fat that had solidified as i wasnt sure my stomach could handle it!!. It is a meaty, spicy chili with such wonderful flavor, although i will use less salt next time, didnt seem salty while cooking but today its just a wee bit salty, but delicious nonetheless. It really makes alot!! I used beef hot links instead of chorizo but it is still so very flavorful.

That's an interesting recipe with the overnight refrigeration instructions. I would have taken off the solidified fat, too. Nice picture! Definitely not a vegetarian dish. :)

    Good job Cheryl!
You should consider linking this post to your review on the recipe page. Most of us do that now so future readers can come to the IMI link easily and read further feedback. Sometimes the reviewer doesn't want to link it for one reason or another and that's okay. But if you don't have a problem with sharing information posted here--then you may want to do that.
There's always room for another chile recipe and this one sure is different, thanks for testing it for us.

Sorry it tok me so long to comment, I have been ill lately. I just wanted to say I made this chili about a week ago and WOW it is so good! I had to tweak it a little due to my diet restrictions, but I really didn't have to tweak it all that much. I used pickled japaaleno slices instead of fresh and used double the italian sausage instead of chorizo.it is still fantastic. This will definately be my new go to chili recipe. Oh! Lovebreezy, thanks forr explaining the linking process, very simple.
