Some good news...

My Mom's biopsy showed that she has what is called a 'large diffuse cell lymphoma'...which is a type of brain tumor that is treatable with chemotherapy and usually responds well. We were told by the Dr's that if you were to have a brain tumor, this is the best type to have. Only 1% of patients have this type of tumor....so we feel extremely lucky!

My Mom started her chemotherapy yesterday and had minimal side effects,(chills) and tonight she will have her second dose. Tomorrow they will be flushing the chemicals out of her body and probably send her home by Friday or Saturday. She will still need 24/7 supervision at home. Then she will return to the hospital every 10 days for the same chemo treatment. The doctors said that she'll need about 5 of these chemo sessions to maintain her condition. Hopefully that will be enough, but she will have to be monitored to make sure the tumor doesn't grow again. After 2 years of no re-growth, she will probably be safe.

This news is like a miracle to us, compared to what the first hospital told us when she was first brought in. What a difference a great hospital makes! Sloan Kettering has been our saviour in diagnosing and treating my Mother!

Thank you all again for your prayers and comforting words! This truly helped me! I miss you all and hope to be back on here again soon!

    (((HUGS))) To Everyone!!!

    Thank you so much everyone!

We brought my Mom home last night. She did very well with her first chemo treatment. No side effects at all. I'm staying with her at her house...so I finally have some computer time while she's taking a nap.

I can't wait to look through all the recipes that you all have been making! :)
