Looks delicious! I love yellow squash. Although I didn't grow that this year either. :-P

I tried to grow yellow squash in my garden this year and for the first time had no luck :( Some things did so good (like the tomatoes and peppers) and some things just were a flop. I'm still learning though!

Oh and GK how did you get yours to look so "fluffy"?

I don't think that it was because of you that they didn't grow...sometimes plants just seem to have a mind of their own! One year I planted ONE roma tomato plant, and had so many really nice tomatoes that I hardly knew what to do with them. Froze A LOT and had fresh salsa quite a few times later in the year. Since then, I've never had the same success. Because of the extreme heat and dryness this year, my tomatoes were small and they split on top by the stem from the scorching sun if I wasn't vigilant in getting them picked at exactly the right time. Next year they are going closer to my patio so it isn't such a pain to water them regularly!

I noticed the definite difference between our photos - I don't know why mine look the way they do - I followed the recipe just as written - the only thing I know is just the size of the squash and maybe I cut mine a little thicker than you did?

Yes I know what you mean! This year was by far my best year for tomatoes! I have about 20 large bags in the freezer full for salsa and spaghetti sauce :) The first year I planted I had a huge green bean success and since then have not been able to get them to grow anything, so I think I'm giving up on planting those anymore, they just take up to much space. Herbs always do well for me and am having a great year with all the peppers. Did okay with the zukes but as I said no yellow squash. It's kinda hit or miss especially in hot dry areas.

Mine must have been much of a fatter squash, and it does look like I cut mine thinner. Your coating just looks so nice and thick, but light at the same time. I'm getting confusing now lol!

ML2C and GK, both of your photos look good. I tried growing yellow squash once. Had 6 plants started of yellow, 1 lemon cucumber, 1 tomato and 1 other something else. All sprouted up great and were dead 2 weeks after that. That was it for me. Store bought and hammie-downs ever since. So, GK. I would love to blame the "minds" of the plants, but I think it was more operator error. : (

I have 2 large yellow and this is where they're headed. Thanks for the heads up ml2c

A good fried squash. I didn't do the egg wash and wound up with too much cornmeal in the oil, which got darker and darker on every batch.
    Needs more salt.
There is way too much cornmeal for the coating. I have enough left over to make a loaf of cornbread and then some. I even made a double batch.
It's well flavored with the addition of more salt.

I used two squash and only started to pour out a cup which would have been half the recipe and saw that it was a ton...so I only did half a cup and I still had probably a good couple of tablespoons left. I did one with the egg wash and it did what yours did just went into the oil...that's when I decided to go with the egg. Your pic though (well it's not posted on the recipe yet but I could see them in the pepper picture) looks like the cornmeal did stick pretty good.
