Sparrow's Porterhouse Steaks with Jack Daniels Pan Sauce

  • mrpiggy 11 years ago
Had this for dinner tonight. I didnt use a porterhouse, but a top sirloin. It was just under an inch so I cooked about 3.5 min per side for a perfect rare/med rare. I also made Sparrows Dirty Mashed Potatoes to go with, and since I had to make bacon for that I used bacon fat to cook the steak in instead of veg oil. This was fantastic. I LOVED it. Thank you Sparrow for an excellent recipe

Holy cow, that looks good. I bookmarked that one. Thanks for putting this here, MrP, as I hadn't seen that one before. I like the looks of those potatoes, too.

Thanks so much for the picture and nice review Mr P! I'm so happy you tried it and enjoyed it! I had to go back and change my intro and my ingredients from when I first posted that a few yrs ago! lol I use this sauce on all steaks, even chicken! And I usually use EVOO or Canola oil now, but, I love the bacon fat!! (Sometimes I throw in some garlic, too). I will have to do that next time. :) Thanks again!

This was really easy. The potatoes were, too, except for the bacon. Even after all the wonderful smells while making this steak the only thing I could smell this mornig was bacon. My whole place smells of it......

Sparrow, I look forward to trying this on chicken. The sauce is so quick

I had 1 b/s breast to use up and I used it for this. This was also good. Added another pic. Now I wonder how it would work with fish?? Thanks again, Sparrow

Delicious! I made a little steak sandwich with this and that sauce got the bread all nice and mooshy. I pulled the steak off and just ate the soggy bread and that great sauce. Loved the little bit of heat from the Jack Daniels in the back of my throat. This is a great recipe, sparow. I have some sauce left because I just made the one steak for me. I'll save it and figure out something else to do with it.

I am sooo happy that you all have tried this and enjoyed it so much. And I love the pix, too. Thank you! I haven't tried it on pork chops, but, now that you said that ML2C, I think I will. :) I don't drink Jack any more, but, I keep a half pint over the stove. I put it in my bbq sauce, and I make a marinade similar to this sauce that I use alot. Thanks so much for all your compliments, I'm glad you found something you liked in my recipes. :)

Nothing like a good steak, and thats a great looking one, Frankie. I think I might have to buy the JD brand just for cooking. Now I want to try it on pork chops like ML2C suggest. YUM

I had the leftover sauce on a hamburger tonight. Very good!
Where I get gas, they have those little airport type of bottles of liquor. 1/4 cup to a little bottle is perfect for cooking. Now I need to get more tomorrow after making this. :)
