California strawberries were buy one get one free this week. At this time of year! So, I decided to give this a try.
It was good. I like the "traditional" shortcake better. The strawberries tasted too much like jam for me. I did like the sweet topping! It was nice and fluffy. I think I'd like to bake the topping alone as individual shortcakes and serve with uncooked strawberries.
Mine only took 18 minutes to bake. Not certain what it would have looked like after 30. I'm glad I was keeping an eye on it.

Thank you, Marie. Yes, it definitely was one time I was glad to be cleaning up in the kitchen! I think 20 minutes would have been too late!
