Zip Lock Omelet

This is such a cool way to make an omelet! I did a trial on myself for dinner tonight to make sure it worked well before I made it for family. It comes out more like a burrito shape than the normal omelet shape, but would be so worth it in order to get 5 done at once if needed! In my omelet I just used up what I had. I sauteed the veggies first though to make sure they were soft. I used onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, jalapeno's , and bacon. The omelet, since it was just one, only took about 10 minutes. It rolled right out perfectly! Topped it with cheese, gaucamole, sour cream and a little salsa. Delicious!

Definitely is NOT a time saver! Half an hour to make this. Bring water to boil then boil the bag vs. 10 min max for a stovetop omelet from a cold start. Might want to try doing the baggie in the microwave.

Well I got the water boiling while I sauteed the bacon and veggies, and for just one omelet I do agree it's probably not a time savor but when you have 5 plus people your making them for I think it may just be a little easier...I'm not good at making them in a pan anyway lol!

That does look like a burrito. This does look like a conversation piece when making for a group. I tried to cook something in a zip lock once while camping. When I pulled out the bag from the boiling water the bag was weakened from the heat that it ripped and the contents spilled into the water

I use the freezer bags they are thicker, I guess I should put that in the recipe. I am glad it is working out. I know it is not a time saver for one person, but I have tons of people at my home so it saves time here. Well, they all get done at the same time so we can sit down and eat together, how is that! LOL! TY all for the insight to the recipe. I am going camping soon and will be making these there also!
