First Friday of Fall.....

Good Morning Everybody! Finished my second cup of coffee and am ready to ease into the day. Will try do my pantry cleaning this afternoon as I didn't get to it yesterday.

Need to do another Costco run this morning. We saw a Samsung tablet on sale when we were there a couple of days ago and JIm's Dad wants us to go back and buy it for him. He just learned how to use the computer this past summer and I have to admit being quite impressed with his progress. He can email and he looks up the hockey schedule and old songs and singers. :) He's been eyeing Jim's tablet so thinks that would be a lot more manageable and he could bring it to Texas with him for the winter in order to stay in touch with everyone.

Hope you got a great sleep Shona. How did Colter's follow up go with the Neuro surgeon? Don't blame you for skipping out on picking up the Ikea cabinets after a long trip to the hospital.

Not sure what to make for dinner this evening. It's really cooled off and we're only supposed to get a high this afternoon of 17C/62F. Wishing everyone a great Friday.

Wow! what an experience you had with Andrew after he gave blood yesterday, Janet! I have never seen that happen to anyone after giving blood. You did get a good deal on your beef tenderloin. We buy it like that when it goes on sale as well. Nice to hear Jim's dad is liking and using the internet so much that he is getting a tablet now. I am delighted it has finally cooled down and we did get another good downpour this morning. Good luck cleaning your pantry out. It is not a job I relish at all!

I hope you got a good sleep last night Shona, it sounded like you really needed it. Yes, let us know how Colter's appointment with the Neuro Surgeon went.

Den is home again today and I hope being home, nips it in the bud. He now has a bad cough so we will keep an eye on that. He will have a rib eye steak and oven fries for dinner and at the moment I am not sure what I am going to have.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning!! Glad Jim’s Dad is catching onto using the computer :) My Memaw is so adamant on not learning anything new. She has my Aunt go and pay her bills and do “computer stuff” for her. Wow, wish we had your weather, I could go for wearing a jacket lol.

Michael’s off today so he want’s to go and run a bunch of errands, Home depot, Lowe’s, etc. Guy stuff, but I may go with him, haven’t decided yet. I started cleaning out Caiden’s room yesterday, getting rid of toys he doesn’t play with, and got about half done so I want to finish that today. Have about 5 bags filled already lol, that’s how bad it is! We are having a rummage sale next month for GS Costa Rica trip and we can use as much as we can get.

Thank goodness for my Mom last night or I would have been a hot mess. She came and picked up Caiden from Bri’s pitching lessons and took him to his Soccer game. There has to be a parent or someone catching during pitching lessons so I had to stay. When Michael showed up I threw him the glove and went to the soccer game lol.

Tonight will be leftovers or whatever you can get your hands on before we have to fly out the door at 5. Bri has a tournament this weekend and this one starts tonight and will probably go through Sunday, SO, there goes our weekend! So if I don’t check in, I’m at the ball field :P Hope everyone has a great TGIF!!!

It is feeling like Fall in my neck of the woods, for sure! Leaves blowing around everywhere and some trees are almost bare. Cool misty mornings and crisp air. :)
That's neat your FIL likes the tablet Janet, I think it's great for older people to get linked up on-line and learn new stuff :) Hopefully you'll get the pantry cleaned out today!

Hi Joce, I hope Den feels better soon. Hopefully you find something great for dinner tonight :)

Hi Michelle, thankfully your mom was able to help! It must be hard to overlap all the sports, but at least you have it under control! You are truly Supermom!! ;) Good luck at the tourney this weekend!

The kids have no school today, so thankfully I was able to sleep in a little! Hopefully this is one of our last appts in Edmonton. The doctor was really surprised, again, by Colter's growth. He's not going to worry too much about his tumor since he has grown so much with it. But he did say that he just saw a 15 yr old girl with the same problem who just lost her bladder and needs surgery. So he will keep Colter's file open for us in case that happens to him, in which case he'll need emergency surgery to fix the bladder-- as that is the most damaging thing about the spinal tumor unless he's getting constant sever back pain or loses feeling in his leg/foot. So we won't have to go to another follow up appt., thank goodness! He was the last specialist in Edmonton that we needed to see as we have local specialist's for everything else now. It's a 2 hour drive there, so 4 hour round trip. Since we live closer to Calgary now, I'll request referrals to the Calgary Children's hospital if our doctor's want to send us to anymore specialist's in the future.
Again, he said Colter needs to be careful with sports, no rough housing, never ever do sit-ups or quick bend downs to pick something up from the ground, as that can snap the nerves...The doc seemed relieved that Colter is a computer guy ;) He said he sees more girls lose their bladder because of gymnastics, dance, and yoga etc. So as long as he's careful we shouldn't have a problem. :)
Today I have to pick up a parcel from the post office--I got the kids some fall/winter stuff--than I'll drop Colter off at his friend's house in the city and do some grocery shopping. His friend lives close to our old house, so I'll go to Sobey's. Haven't been there in ages. The kids want bow tie pasta, so I'll make that with some Italian sausages for dinner.
Have a great day everyone! :)

Sorry to hear Den's still under the weather Joce! :( I don't mind cleaning the pantry out. Cleaning the oven and the toilets are my two least favourite household chores. :) Yum on the Rib eye dinner!

Wow on five bags of toys that Caiden doesn't play with anymore Michelle! :) You are indeed fortunate to have your Mom close by and willing to help out when you need it. Have a great weekend playing ball/watching ball. :)

Very glad to hear you were able to sleep in a bit today Shona. That's a LONG trip to Edmonton for you guys for sure. Have a fun shop at Sobey's. I love Sobey's Your dinner sounds very yummy.

The day is turning out lovely. Jim and I actually went in to town and ate McD's for brekkie again. :) Then to Costco and then to Farm Boy where I bought four more pumpkins. One fun orange and green one with warts. Also got a good deal on leeks, six lovely big ones for $5. Somewhere around I have a fantastic "Leek and barley" soup recipe that I haven't made in ages.

Glad to hear you are (hopefully) done with having to make that 4 hour round trip Shona! That’s great that Colter is doing so well with his tumor so far, crossing fingers nothing major happens anytime or anytime soon at least. Yum on sausages and bowtie pasta :)

Well I wouldn’t say my Mom is close Janet, but close enough lol. A little over an hour away so not too bad, but I do miss my MIL being only 25 mins away :( Oh well, where they live is beautiful now in New Mexico, so it gives us a nice vacation spot :) Great deal on leeks, I love them and can’t wait to head back to the FM to see if they have any.

Had a about an hour of free time after cleaning out Caiden’s room so I made cookies! Chocolate Chippers they are SO GOOD!! I’ll review tonight :)

You're awesome Michelle...."I had about an hour of free time....so I made cookies". LOLOL. You pack a lot into one day you do! Tickled you tried my Chocolate chippers recipe. I'm going to make that the next time we go to Jim's Dad's cottage as that's his favourite kind. A little over an hour away truly isn't far, but indeed 25 min. is closer.

I'm all done cleaning my pantry and it looks great. Threw out half a small kitchen bag of stuff but that's not bad. Worst thing was a bottle of Lime Cordial that's been in there for I don't know how long. It was not at all a nice colour anymore. LOLOL.

    Decided on
    Oven Fried Panko Chicken
for dinner with Edamame on the side.

Where's Linda, Bren and Karen today I wonder?

Linda, I quickly googled the interpretation of dreams where a bear is chasing you and the website I looked at said "If a bear is chasing you, this means you are avoiding a big issue in your life, and it is time to deal with it." LOL. I've been having that recurring dream since I was a kid. Must have had big issues all through out. LOLOL.

Janet, we are supposed to have a temp of about 88F today, not too hot but stil not comfy. Next week will be in the 70's. Wayne wants to hay the big field again .... Not the best for horses but great for goats, which his buddy has. Good that Jim's dad is doing well learning his tablet. My iPad comes in handy at times, esp. when traveling. The iPhone keeps dropping me from GR, but the laptop usually leaves me logged in. I blame our internet service, or lack thereof, for most of the problem.

It is amazing what toys kids can collect, Michelle. GS (thru our daughter) donated a bunch of clothes and toys to the church yard sale. Including a stuffed rocking horse we got him years ago. It didn't make a dent in the rest, and his room is quite small. We took a lot of clothes and such but the house still needs a lot of decluttering.

Wishing continued healing for Den, Joce.

So good that Colter is holding his own with the tumor, Shona. It is fortunate that he is more computer oriented, less chance of injury than with soccer etc. Sounds like the doctor is quite knowledgeable on the condition, and cares about his patients. Hope Colter has a good time visiting his friend.

Wayne was sidelined with "podigra" (?sp.), or gout in the big toe. He couldn't walk or drive for two days, but it seems to be settling. I guess it keeps coming back. Googled all the naturopathic info on it that I could find and swung by a health food store in St. Robert to pick up cherry juice concentrate. He hurt so much that he even agreed to take apple cider vinegar every day if it would lessen the chance of another flairup. (He hates vinegar so it must really hurt!) That and cherries were the most often sited alternative. One site said coffee caused it and another said it helped cure or prevent it. Confusion reigns!

I am anxious to have the RV! If the hitch comes in we pick it up Monday. He has to cut down a few branches in the road so we can get it down our drive....hopefully his foot will cooperate. I am not ready to drive it quite yet....Aargh! Although it is a fifth wheel so that is easier than a trailer. I have pulled an 18 foot, loaded hay trailer but not on the road! Practice, practice. After the mower, I am up for the challenge.

We went to Rolla to pick up some medical records for Wayne. Decided to eat breakfast at Edgar Springs. They have a good menu and their breakfast burrito was really good. Eggs, cheddar cheese, sausage, ham, peppers, onion, rolled into a tortilla. Had to eat it with a fork, it was a huge burrito! Wayne had their special .... half ham steak, (huge!), hash browns, eggs, toast, gravy. We are still not hungry and it is after four!

No idea about supper. Something light, maybe a spinach salad, or ??? Need to push the green veggies! Have a good day.

Good afternoon everyone. I just walked in the door and am about to start dinner. We were shopping all afternoon. Made the final decision on the quartz and had to go make a down payment. The off to the lighting store, again, as they ones that we chose and paid for were on backorder until the end of Oct and I'm not paying an electrician twice. Then we did the grocery shopping and I'm pooped. Dinner will be salad and grilled Italian sausages.
That was quite the experience with Andrew, Janet and yes I made the pasta. That's a great price on the tenderloin. I've purchased a whole one in the past and wasn't disappointed.
I hope that Den feels better soon Joce.
Wow your busy Michelle. When mine were little I rotated the toys. Some were out and some were put away for another day.
I'm sorry about Colter's health problem, Shona. The Ikea Kitchen sale is supposed to start on Oct. 5th.
I really have to run, the natives are hungry!!

Good Evening Everyone! Sorry I missed you all … I read your posts but just didn’t have time to sit and write until now.

I no sooner got up, had a cup of coffee, and started dehydrating chicken strips for LD when we got the call that someone wanted to see the house. We have a 4 hour window to “get ready” and they indicated they wanted to come between 2:00-4:00 p.m. so we said yes and started scrambling to get everything ready. It was good practice and only took us about 2 hours to get everything in tip top shape.

Long story short at 4:30 we got a call that they were cancelling. Needless to say how “miffed” we were to have to waste an entire day for a no show appointment.

Tablets are so much fun and so easy to use. Kuddos that Jim’s Dad wants one Janet! O.M.G.! on the horrific story about your friends mishap with his blood draw. How the hey can anything like that happen?? Great deal on the tenderloin, hurray for cleaning out the pantry, and nice on the pumpkins.

When we lived in NJ the day after Thanksgiving everyone in our development would put their pumpkins out for trash. Later in the evening I would go around the neighborhood and pick them all up (would get about 20+ pumpkins) and take them home because I love love love roasted pumpkin seeds. After harvesting the pumpkins for their seeds (a few at a time) I would then cut up the pumpkins and take them over to park and put them out for the deer. It was a win-win for all!

So sorry to hear your DH is not feeling well Joce. Rest does do wonders to help the body bounce back.

My goodness Michelle! Your days sure are full and to get an hour of free time and then bake a batch of cookies has me in awe.

I’m envious of your fall weather Shona. Prayers that your son’s tumor will continue to be nothing that interferes with his health.

Ouch on your DH’s gout Karen. I hear it is painful. Hoping the natural approach brings him relief.

Congrats on finalizing your counter top decision Bren. Hoping the rest falls in place.

Oh, found the littlest tiniest snake today in our front lanai. Little guy was a little longer than my middle finger and about as thin as a piece a pasta. Looked him up and determined he was a Florida Ringneck Snake. I caught him and threw him out into the grass. Now what do you think it means to find a snake at your front door when you come home after your appointment cancels???
