Foggy Friday

  • MissouriFarmWife 5 years ago
Fog has set in this morning. We can’t see the horizon, it is like a wall of translucent cotton candy out there!

Rocky is looking bad. He has dropped weight and I am hoping the worming we will give him today will address it. But he is 26 + years old and quite stiff with arthritis, so ————-.

Woke up worrying about fire department elections. Sigh. Went to sleep worrying about chemo. Need to turn off the brain and get some sleep. What will be, will be.

The flooring may be started today in the bathroom. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Yay!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Karen! Fog`s so weird isn`t it! Dreamlike really. Very sorry to hear about Rocky. One of your horses yes? I find the best way to not think about something which is bothering me is to actively seek out something else to think about. Easier said than done I know. That`s good the RV is good now and that Wayne knows how to do the winterizing from here on in. What kind of flooring did you choose for the bathroom? I forget.

Jim and I headed to Rona yesterday afternoon and got the Table saw. We even got it for $50 cheaper than advertised as someone had left an old sale tag on it and they honoured it (plus it was no tax day on any purchases over $100!) Jim`s pretty happy.

Not sure what I`ll make for dinner this evening but I`ve got tons of things in the freezer to choose from. This afternoon is the start of the Carp Farmer`s Christmas Market so we will head over there. I`ve preordered some Cocktail Sausage Rolls and Eccles cakes from the English Pie Lady so will pick them up. Also want some Apple Cider. Going to take a spin to Almonte to buy the tickets for Sunday`s House Tour in Perth as well.

    Wishing everyone a great Friday!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Woke up to a freezing cold house because I had opened the bedroom window last night and forgot to close it. The blind was pulled down so I didn't see it and just forgot. Brrrrrr.
Need to run out to the tile/granite place this morning to see pieces of what the guy is thinking to use to replace the seat in the shower. I emailed him Monday and never heard back from him so I called yesterday and having a conversation with him was like I had never had one period. I don't think he even read the email he asked me to send. WTF! I'll go and if I don't like what I'm seeing or hearing then onto the next vendor. It's gotten ridiculous the lack of professionalism. He was great when I first spoke with him, maybe he was having an off day … week??
Took out a pork loin and will roast that for dinner with some veggies and potato.

Wow on how thick your fog is Karen. We had thick fog like that about a week ago? I guessing Rocky is one of your horses, I hope he will be all right. How does a horse pick up worms? I don't know anything about them. Hate having so much on the mind you can't sleep. I was up for about an hour last night around 1:00 a.m. but was able to go back to sleep.

Nice deal on the saw Janet. Love when you get a good deal. Hope you find some great goodies at the Farmer's Market.

So sorry to hear about Rocky, Karen:( I hope he feels better soon possibly the weather with him and his arthritis too? Glad to hear there was nothing wrong with the RV. Sending sweet dreams your way tonight or sooner if you need a good nap.

Glad you got such a good deal for Jim on his table saw, Janet. One thing you might be able to keep as a surprise for Jim would be to pick up an extension sawhorse that folds up when not in use to hold longer boards in place and level for cutting the board on a table saw. Plus an extra saw for the table saw b/c he will need one sooner than later if I know Jim:) I am sure you will love the Perth House Tour this year. Good luck with all your errands today. Enjoy the Farmer's Market.

Gee, Linda I hope this tile guy works out for you. You seem to have run into a few that don't really care about the customer and what they want.

I went to the doctor yesterday but didn't see my own doctor. I got this young whipper snipper who knew his stuff but wasn't very compassionate towards his patients yet. I will make sure I get my own doctor next time but he did write a prescription for an arm brace and I need to go the physio for my shoulder which he thinks is bursitis. Apparently, bursitis can take a couple of years to heal and I am not to do anything with that arm. I am waiting for the X-Ray dept to call me for an appointment for my shoulder. I go to physio this afternoon.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning! Sorry to hear about Rocky Karen :( Hopefully the worming will work for him and he will be back at it! I always put a DVR'd cooking show on before bed to fall asleep to (Chopped, Guys Grocery Games, etc.) , to keep my mind of things. Usually helps! Otherwise I'll just think and think, lol. Hope your flooring gets going today!

Congrats on the table saw Janet, what a deal! The Christmas Market sounds fun!

Ugh on the shower guy not cooperating Linda, I know this is SO frustrating for you. Hopefully like you said, it was just a bad week. Yum on your dinner!

Supposed to have a busy day today getting ready for our tournament tonight. We need to run out and get the concession stand food but I still haven't heard from the other team Mom. I had offered to go down to Houston and pick up the chili and cheese sauces, which are at a special store because they come in bags and fit in the machine, but she has yet to send me how many I need to get etc. and if there is other items to get there. She had gladly accepted my offer, but time is ticking and we still have to go and buy about $800 worth of things from Sam's and get it up to the fields to stock it up!

So I'm just currently tidying things around the house since we won't be here all weekend . That reminds me Linda, if I don't pop in in the morning will you post the Recipe Challenge tomorrow? Not sure if I'll have time or reception at the fields.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful Friday!!!

    Good morning again.

I am sure Jim will enjoy the saw, and the ideas Joce had about accessories!

Joce, you are right about the young doctors....they can be a bit much. Good luck.

Busy as usual, Michelle. How was Houston? We had planned on a trip to Texas but it sort of fizzled.Maybe next year?

Linda, good luck with the shower. Hope it all works out. How frustrating to go thru the process! Maybe we can both sleep better tonight.

Yes, Rocky is a horse. They get worms thru the eggs laid by the adults in manure, which decays on the grass and they eventually, after it is gone, nibble on a blade of grass with the eggs. I used ivermectin on them, they were pussycats....no fuss no fight. You put your thumb in the side of their mouth and push on the gum, then push the syringe so the meds get far enough to swallow. It is easy Peary as long as they don’t argue, and these guys are old and accustomed to humans doing weird things to them. We bought some stuff to add to their feed also.will pick Senior feed and alfalfa cubes and slowly introduce it to them so they don’t colic.

Brrr on the cold house Linda! Crossing my fingers for you that it works out with the tile guy and the seat samples.

A saw blade is a good idea Joce. I`ll have to sneak down and look at the book that came with it to see what types are best for what. It always freaks me out when I come across a Dr. with no bedside manners. You`d think they`d teach that as part of their courses but obviously some people are far better at it than others. Ouch on Bursitis. I`ve heard of it but don`t really know what it is. When do you next see your own Dr. as I know you were also going to mention your sleeping troubles. How`s that going the last few days? Good luck at Physio.

Oh goodness at the other Team Mom not getting back to you Michelle. You must almost be about to burst with frustration. :( Hope you all have fun at the Tournament.

We`ve decided to make the Fazoletti pasta that I bought at the Italian Deli last week for dinner. I`d also picked up a rose sauce for me and a marinara for Jim so just need a veg on the side.

Hope the therapy is able to help with you shoulder Joce. I'm sure it's painful. Some years ago I had a frozen shoulder, after a few months of therapy and it finally starting to loosen the other one froze. Neither have been the same since. Boo on the young guy being so impersonable, not a great character trait for a doctor :(

I'll be happy to start the Recipe Challenge post Michelle. You have enough on your plate this month. Hope the other mom gets with you soon to get the concession stand items.

Thanks for explaining the horse thing to me Karen. I know horses and rabbits are similar in regards to their guts (neither can vomit) and thus what can inflict a horse can inflict a rabbit when it comes to gut troubles but that is all I know.

    Nice dinner idea Janet.

Met with the tile guy and basically felt like I lost 4 days. The exact same conversation and information I gave him Monday I again gave him today. Perhaps the job is too small and he just doesn't want to be bothered but then he should say so. When I talked with him Monday he was great. I'm giving him to Wednesday of next week and if I don't hear back from him by then then I'm moving on. He needs to check his warehouse to see if he has a remnant piece in stock of what needs to be cut for me and also a price for it and the install. He seems like a good contractor but just not interested enough because it's not an entire remodel, no different than any of the other ones. I'll get it done someway, somehow, just hate wasting so much time doing it.

SP Karen. Glad Rocky took his meds okay and I hope it turns him around.

Oh my goodness Linda at the tile guy. Ugh.

    Have a batch of
    Notyourmommas Magic Elixir
simmering on the stove. Going to take a mug each with us when we head out in a bit to tide us over. We`ll probably grab some nummies at the Market to eat and consider it lunch.

Have been working on my Christmas cards this morning. Falalalalalal.....:)

Janet, check your local news. Major earthquake in Anchorage and now a tsunami warning, plus more quakes expected. If I remember correctly Jim's sister lives there? I just heard from Michael and he said it was the scariest thing he has been thru in his life. He was at the gym on base and the ceiling just started falling down around everyone. They ran out side and he said it was like being on a trampoline. They have no power and he is trying to get home to see if there is damage there plus check on Griffy, his dog. He's worried about him. Crazy stuff! He's been in combat before and said this was more scary than that!

Yum on Tina’s sipping broth! It’s great stuff.

Yikes Kimmer, I heard about the earthquake late day and right away thought “where is your son?” and see he was right there for it. I’ve felt two more minor ones in my life and they were disturbing enough. Can’t imagine experiencing a big one. Hope his dog is ok, do let us know more please.

Got to Costco this afternoon, what a zoo! Glad to be done and out of there.

He made it home Linda and his house was ok, a few things jiggled about inside but nothing broken. But his dog Griffy was totally freaked out. I just spoke to him a minute ago and the dog is still freaked out. Running around with his tail tucked totally under his body which is certainly a sign. I saw some pics of the damage. Lots of bridges collapsed and many roads are just..............gone!

Good evening and hello to all. Hubs stopped by Fresh Market on the way home from an errand and found a delightful, HUGE, porterhouse steak. So have that marinating in some Thomas Sauce and will grill up tonight. Will make up a small salad with iceburg lettuce and tomato. I still don't trust the romaine yet even though it's back on the shelf!

Bit rattled today with the earthquake news. Michael had called me right after it happened which was around 8:30 his time. I was just about to take lunch when he called and always the first thing I do is read the news I told him I was glad he called me cause I would have freaked out myself! He said ya I saw what time it was and figured you were eating lunch and reading the news, lol. He wanted to get to me before.

    Hope all enjoy their evening.

Nice of you to remember us Kimmer. Jim`s sister June messaged me when the after shocks were still happening. She was at home and didn`t have to work today (she`s a nurse so the hospital would be a crazy place to be during an earthquake wouldn`t it!). Her cupboard doors opened, pictures fell off the wall and the glass broke in them, Christmas ornaments fell off her tree and broke, tools jumped off the walls in her garage and a little bar fridge that was up on a table jumped off. Big mess but she`s safe and nothing major done. Electricity was out. They said there no more worry about a Tsunami. Her dog was cool as a cucumber. Weird eh? Poor Michael! Wouldn`t that be something having the ground move so much it felt like a trampoline! Wow! Poor Griffy. :( What kind of dog is he? NICE on the Porterhouse! What`s Thomas sauce?

I got a lot of my Christmas cards addressed. I`m up to the `I`s` in my address book. :) We headed off around 1:30. Picked up our tickets for the house tour and poked in a few shops in Almonte. The Carp Farmer`s Market was CRAZY. Even traffic getting in to the town was stop and go. Grabbed my items from the English Pie lady and my apple cider and that was it.

Glad to hear June is safe. Wow on no power though. Michael does have power. When he got home he let Griffy out to pee and he would not come back in. Just laid in the snow. Michael had to carry him back in the house. He's a chocolate lab Janet. Thomas sauce is delightful http://www.thomasgourmetfoods.com/ it's sold at our Fresh Market. Hubs loves it. It has just a hint of BBQ which is perfect for him as he's not a big fan of the regular BBQ sauce.

Word from Michael is though that they are worried about another plate shift and if that happens it will be like a bomb going off. Don't know if that is military info or public. He usually can't tell me military info so assuming all are talking about that. So concerned right now! So funny though, not funny haha funny, but weird as he said he has been in many, many scary situations but at least you knew they (the enemy) were out there and you could shoot them. This came unannounced and caught every one off guard. I'm proud of him as he hurled people into the street that had froze in the gym, just covering their heads from the debris coming down and afraid to move. Many non military people use the same gyms on bases. He said his military skills paid off for civilians today. I know he's my son, but I thank him for his service to not only his country........but his country's people! Proud Momma!
