Friday's Fixin's

  • notyourmomma 14 years ago
Salmon patties are on the menu. Those Not really fried potatoes look good too. Have some cauliflower broccoli mix in the deep freeze.

Should make the hungry man happy for a change. He won't eat all day unless someone is here to wait on him and each evening when I get home from work is a challenge to see how fast I can cook. Going to Publix for the Bogo's today and getting some beef franks. If I beg him, he might nuke a dog every now and then for lunch...and it would buy me fifteen more minutes of peace before the nightly whining begins. Okay, shame on me for complaining. He is here and walking. Just deal with it. LOL He is hungry, feed him. Simple. Huh?

Have a Happy Friday. Will try to catch up with ya'll later.

Aww Tina you are still a Saint in my book. Could you leave him with something he doesn't have to fix like maybe some trail mix, nuts or even pretzels so he isn't so cranky when you get home. I don't know why but crackers and cheeze whiz came to mind probably because they don't have to be refridgerated and he can just have them right at his side!! LOL
Something with shrimp. Rachel wants shrimp scampi but it is so fattening, anyone have a low fat recipe?

    Your chimichangas sound good Pat.
Good Luck with the shrimp scampi Laurie. It's one of my favorites too!
We're having beef strogonoff with noodles tonight. Have broccoli and cauliflower in fridge - not sure which one.
    Have a good day!

MMMM, Laurie, I want shrimp scampi too! If you don't have white wine you can sub chicken stock.

Beef stroganoff and chimichangas all sound good! I'm hungry already! lol

Bryan taking me out tonight! wooohooo! He has a gift card from work that we can use at the Brewery or Calhoun's. Will probably go to the Brewery, gonna watch the VOLS basketabll game at 7. HOPE THEY WIN! Will either be wood-fired pizza, or a burger or a philly sandwich if we go to the Brewery. Calhouns - Steak Calhoun, what else? LOL (Marinated in their homemade bbq sauce then grilled, they are locally famous for ribs, but, yeah, Steak Calhoun is da bomb!).

Boss Lady & her assistant / best friend are off today, Monday and Tuesday, gone to Disney World together...PARRRRTAY!

All your dinners sound great! And Tina, yeah, you are a Saint and you can complain anytime you want!
Funny, I love Cheez Whiz and crackers when on a road trip, but HATE Velveeta - go figure. Aren't they related somewhat?
Have a great night off, Lori!
Nary a clue on dinner, haven't even finished my coffee.... picking up for the cleaning lady - expected in a couple hours.

LOL Donna...my Mom always cleaned up so the cleaning lady could come, too!

I LOVE Squirt cheese and crackers, too! BUT absolutely cannot stand velveeta (or the cheez whiz in a jar)...glad I'm not alone in that weirdness! : )

    Birds of a feather...........................................

I'm learning a new appreciation for Velveeta. Yeah, I was a snob too.

Tomato plants are doing fine. Just trying to wait for the right moment to up-pot the new guys. Got a permit from the county extension office to sell the tomato plants and tomatoes and tomato jelly at the farmers market.

Picked up a half-dozen fat pills from Krispy Kreme at the market while I was in there to buy some celery for more soup. They cancel each other out don't they?

Krispy Kreme didnt make it around here, but it sure wasn't my fault LOL
didn't make the shrimp scampi. Realized when I got to work that I forgot to take the shrimp out of the freezer. Started having a craving for pizza. Gotta tell you I made a damn good low fat veggie pizza with what I had on hand. 2 pizzas + 4 people = 1 slice left!

Love Dunkin coffee.....doughnuts.. I avoid like the plague. Once you start you can't stop.......that's me and doughnuts. But the coffee is so wondeful. Used to get 3 lbs. at Christmas from a good friend, sadly she moved away and I don't get my coffee fix.

Speaking of which? anyone ever buy Gevalia coffee? the coffee of the month stuff?
You get a free coffeemaker if you join up, I think.

Krispy Kreme gets cancelled out with celery, clearly stated in the cheater's diet book.

Shrimp scampi, hmmmmm garlic. Might just have to add a bunch more garlic to the roasted potatoes...it's the garlic that gets me.

Momma if you can't complain here, then where. Hugs.

Mr. SuchAFuss just listed off all the premade options. I guess that means scrounge night which suits me just fine.

That terrific rain we had last night really perked up the tomatoes I planted yesterday. Its so fun this time of year seeing the little plants leap towards summer.

Oh, forgot to say thanks for the snack fixes for Fred....all of them well and good, if someone one is here to "hand-deliver" them to his royal highness. I have snacks and fruit and cookies galore, but unless someone is here to bring it to him, he won't eat. We even bought a speaking watch with an alarm to say "it's two o'clock, time to eat" and he ignores the alarm. I don't know what else to do. He sits in the chair and changes channels all day and waits until I walk in the door. Then he gets hungry.......ARGH.

Today, I even put the basket of clean laundry on his chair.....hint hint..."FOLD ME" and asked him to fold his clothes to help me out today. I found the basket on the couch and he is in his chair. Guess who will be folding clothes after she cooks tonight.

Tina,I have tried Gavalia a couple of times for the freebies. Take the offer but then cancel because the coffee is expensive and no better than some I have had. I do have a couple of their pots, cafafes, thermoses and insulated mugs though!!LOL!

LOL Lori, exactly what I did with the Gevalia offer! We're using the coffee maker right now cuz our Cuisinart bit the dust a few weeks ago. Was glad I had it in the basement - never been used. Their coffee IS expensive.

I love Krispy Cremes - they build a few around here, but they are NOT all created equal - didn't seem to be the same as down in Savannah. Could be me.... I don't go near 'em anymore. Too tempting.

Good luck with the plants, P7O. And if you ate ALL 6 of those donuts, I'd say you are on the celery diet for at least a week! LOL

Oh Tina, you MUST have a very high tolerance level; I think I might lose my patience now and then... No, I KNOW I would!

    LOL Otter "scrounge night"

Well I going with grilled hamburgers since it's sunnied up outside. Not that I wouldn't have done 'em anyway. Easy peasy. They had Lays Kettle Cooked chips bogo at Albertsons today and I got Moran's ground beef $2 off on a mgr's special with a good date still on it! Woo hoo!

See, I knew we were friends for a reason...I was thinking I would like the back up coffee maker since the one I have is sputtering and spitting out the coffee instead of actually brewing it. I was feeling guilty...buy one month of coffee for the free maker and then quit? Do I dare? I'd guilt myself into two months at least.

Well, I had a long long talk with the Fredster tonight begging him to listen to me and how I need his help. HE got up from the chair and went to bed. HE didn't want to hear me complain about his lack of help. I AM the problem, according to him. If I didn't ask him to do these things in the first place, then I wouldn't get upset if he didn't do them.......He has decided his job is to sleep and watch TV apparently and I can just live with it. I wonder how he would feel if he had no clean clothes to put on or clean sheets for the bed. He would probably not care at all. Again, that would be my issue about cleanliness.

Tina, I am so sorry, we have all been there at one time or another, where you just can't believe they can be so selfish/insensitive. Maybe it is time for a strike. I don't know Fred's "normal" disposition, so I can't tell you how to react, but I KNOW what I would do and it wouldn't be pretty! Hang in there, friend. You are a saint.....
