Scorching the skins on some bell peppers this morning. That brought mother running! "What's on fire, what's on fire." :) She's still hyper sensitive about boiling the tea kettle dry yesterday.

I'm trying to get a jump start on making some pasta-stuffed peppers. So the peppers are broiled and the house is warmed at the same time. It's the birds and stone metaphor 'cept I got another one that come flying out of her bedroom.

Today is meet and greet day. Started the day at 5:30a so I would be ready to roll for a 7:30a executive staff meeting. 2 hours of non-stop fun (not)! Our preconstruction VP brought in a bucket of Christmas cookies baked up fresh by his lovely wife. Those were nice but we really wanted the rum cake.
The Christmas cookies have started pouring in. I left the meeting and found a tray of Baklava had appeared in the kitchen. Walking down the hall past the accounting department was some sort of yummy bread loaf. This is such a dangerous time of year for us folks who have to count every calorie so we don't start resembling a Jolly Old Elf.
This time of year more than at any other time its the importance of a satisfying breakfast and lunch are so vital. Without those defences up the temptations of the day will overwhelm you. I've made a list of tactics to avoid the crush of Christmas goodie temptations:
    1. Keep all goodies out of eyesight and hands reach.
    2. If you have the need to share, make it a non-edible treat or a seasonal fruit like Clementines.
    3. If you are afraid of be perceived as impolite by not accepting a proferred treat, accept it and let them know you'll enjoy it later. Then pass it to a skinny friend or deposit it in a round receptacle.
There must be more ideas out there. Shout it out I need saving. Now for more meets and greets. I just got tagged for random drug testing followed by a lunch meeting at the Grand Cypress being hosted by Autodesk to focus on how local contractors are employing or preparing for adoption of building information modeling. Yes nothing but fun and excitement for me today.

Probably just scrounging for supper today. I will probably have a big lunch which will be dinner of the day at that meeting.

Hey everyone! Finally catching a break, been slammed at work and slammed at home! Christmas comes on Dec 25th every year...every single time...how can I be so far behind when I know it's coming? lol

I hear ya on the goodies, Otter. All the Title Companies, Ins. Agents and Realtors are bringing us goodies, not to mention what people in the office are baking and bringing in. We all accept them, test a couple, then find someone to give them away to. Take them home to the kids or whatever. None of my skinny friends will take more than a bite of their own...and sure won't accept us giving them more...gues that's why they're our SKINNY friends! lol

Office Christmas lunch today, not wure where she is taking us. We thought it was decided, then found that the place that's reopening with what we thought would be a new menu (Johnny Carino's) is reopening with the same menu...and it was not that great before. We are hoping for Connor's, but we'll see.

Probably heat up leftover smothered pork chops, home canned green beans with onion and bacon, and dirty mashed potatoes (on a plate in the microwave! lol not how I ususally do leftovers). Easy easy dinner tonite, gotta wrap everything we've bought so far so we can see what we need to go buy tomorrow nite.....UGH!

Glad no damage done in the fire Point, and congrats on the sale, Laurie.

    Hello and hugs to everyone!!!!!

SPAROW---Hrmmm......dirty mashed potatoes. I'm intrigued--sounds like something a redneck cook could get excited about, hahaa! :-D

LAURIEG--Congrats on the sale, hun. Loving it for you at Christmastime!

POINT---Your poor little momma. And you called her a bird, hahaha! :-)

OTTER---Girl, I do admire your fortitude, but this time of year is made to splurge. Guess that's why I'm a fata$$...LOL!

LeCLARE---Gosh your dinner does sound wonderful! As usual---hugs!

I have a HUGE ham that hubbs won at the turkey shoot staring at me from the fridge. I swar I'm going to chunk it up and make 8 dinners out of it. I swar I am. Really.

I think tonight I'm going to make some scalloped taters & ham as the main dish, a green salad to go with and maybe some of LeClare's crusty salty crescents. I did just spy a recipe from MIDGELET for homemade rice-a-roni ----think that will be good with tomorrow's chicken chunks!

Y'all have a great Tuesday---the CHRISTMAS COOKIE BAKING IS ON TODAY!!!

Ham and scalloped potatoes is one of my favorite meals....YUM!!!

    Congrats Laurie.

Nice to see you, sparow...Miss you, my friend.

Otter, Kudos to you for having such willpower.

Points, I totally relate to how Momma is feeling....When my oldest was 1 week old, my mother babysat so I could go out to dinner for my birthday.....Got home to firetrucks and an ambulance in front of my house..My first thought was that my mom had killed my baby.....She had started sterilizing bottles and fell asleep....Had to spend 2 days at a hotel...That plastic is toxic, especially for a new born...

Got a little bit of shaved steak so it's steak, pepper and onion quesidillas for supper...Rice on the side.

Laurie, I'm with you on the PJs at 7:30!
    LOL Point, your poor mother.....
Otter, you do have some self-control!
Lori, good to hear from you! Have a good time at lunch. Your dinner sounds good in spite of the nukewave.
Judy, your dinner plan sounds good too. I love scalloped pototoes!

Off to get ready... Have a nice day all!

Is it me or did Christmas come sooner this year???
I am usually completely ready by now! I am not starting the cookie baking till next week. not doing a ton of cookie trays like in previous years. I think it will just be pitzellis, annesette cookies and Rachel wants to do the cut out sugar cookies for her teachers. I still have to do the Costo or BJ's run. My costo card expired and I haven't re newed it yet. My sister said I can use her bj's card but that would mean I have to carry cash, and not my debit card.

LOL Judy...dirty mashed potatoes = mashed potatoes with the skins left on (I used red ones this time) Sometimes I add some garlic or cheese or chives or get wild and add all 3!

Family dinner Sat Donna? whoooaaa! LOL My Grandmother used to look in cabinets and closets and everything. She said "I like to see what people have..." roflmao

Ham and scalloped taters sound good to me, too.

We went to the Chop House for lunch. It was good food. I ordered the wrong thing, but everyone's food was good. The appetizers and the salad were really really good. Love to go back for supper one nite and get a steak.

I am notorious for ordering the wrong thing at restaurants.

Karma pulled up a stool and helped me make some cabbage soup last night. What's even more crazy is she ate it! LOL, she's my veggie lover. ♥
I used the leftover NY strips in it. Very yummy. I might get around to posting it in a bit.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight. I pulled out some burger and am getting in the mood for chicken but only have a whole frozen one. So that will have to wait till tomorrow.

The lunch at Grand Cypress was amazing. Fresh baby spinach with red onion and orange and a light blue cheese vinegrette, green beans sauted with pancetta and garlic, wide noodles with sauted shrimp and parmesian, poached mahi mahi topped with a mango salsa, fabulous key lime pie.

Oh yeah I have will power.. not so much. Man oh Man was that good.

Wynne, you must've posted at the same time as I did this morning - didn't see you then. That is scary what happened with your baby!
    All your dinners sound great!
I did the Costco run today -wasn't too bad, gassed up the car there too! They had all their pork on sale at Albertsons and buy one get one free to boot. I got two packages of boneless sirloin chops for just over $8! Got some smothered pork in the oven with cream of mushroom soup and sour cream mixture. Gonna have over rice with some green beans. Wrapped up enough pork for 4 more meals! Not bad, 5 meals, $8! I love when I get a deal like that!
